What would you give as soft food for dog with back molar out.Vet says soft food for week.OH wants to give just meat (tinned dog food) as he was on complete hard feed before extraction.I was just going along scrambled egg, wheeetabix baby type food initially maybe soft puppy food.
What would be better??

Why not feed him his normal food, but soak it with warm water so it is nice and soft to eat, changeing his diet might give him an upset tummy which i'm sure he could do without,a tooth out is enough.

As dogs aren't actually able to chew their food like we do (they have no sideways jaw movement or flat molars for grinding) you'd probably be ok feeding normally as it will go past the extracted tooth site as it is swallowed, but scrambled eggs are far better than canned or even sack food.

Eggs are a power food for dogs, they contain high quality animal protein, and essential fatty acids a "full compliment" of minerals and all vitamins except C plus enzymes and natural antioxidants, all in one convenient little biodegradable packet although that in itself is a good source of calcium. I never scramble them of course, just open them!

Out of curiosity was the tooth rotten?

This is what we did for our Lab when she had a tooth extracted a few years ago. She is on RAW now, so I would probably just give her the mince if it happened today, but she was on dry then. Had no problems at all!
