A friends Pony has all of a sudden got soft frogs. He is 3 years old Newforset and lives out. Any ideas? He is not doing much road work at the moment either.

Oh and he isn't shod.

Hi - a good diet is always a good balanced start and you could try biotin, although it is for hoofs I have found it good with soft soles too. Iodine applied may help and it will also help prevent infections occurring.

Lol, thought maybe cos its wet, but no other horse or pony that I know gets soft frogs, so it took me a little bit by suprise! Although saying that, they usually come in and not living out 24/7

I think you could possibly use keratex hoof gel. This is off the Keratex website:

Keratex Hoof Gel - 500 ml Keratex Hoof Gel waterproofs the entire hoof capsule, protecting your horse's feet from the softening and weakening effects of moisture, such as boggy fields, humidity or wet bedding. Water will form droplets and run off the hoof wall and sole much like rain off a waxed jacket, keeping the hooves strong and healthy and maintaining breathability. Great for hooves that soften and crack in wet conditions.
