my boys frogs are quite soft and moist !!
i use effol on his hoofs inside and out everyday plus he has seedy toe one hoof ! do you think i should stop putting the oil on his frogs and leave them dry ?
or is there something i can get to put on them,i was told by his owner that he gets foot rott in the winter !!!

I wouldn't put anything like Effol on the sole & frog. I put Antibac on Jim's to keep them hard & treat/prevent any infection, I swear by it!

aparently he gets foot rot in the winter !!
there is no smell coming from his frogs there just soft id rather find something no to harden them and protect them so he goes in to the winter with good frogs so that less damage is done in the winter !! i have sudocream, would purple spay help with any infection ?? what about a powder to help dry them ?

interesting bout the sudocream for thrush does it work well??? my mare suffers from it in the winter and usually end up washing with hibiscrub and putting tar on to keep the moisture out of the foot it works quite well

If they are not smelly i think i would just clean them and let them dry out naturally, the frog is meant to be soft and spongy to absorb concussion, i think if you use anything to harden the frog it could do more harm then good, just my opinion

Have recently started using a product on Rock called "healthy frog" - it's seriously improved his frogs. They were previously VERY squigy and prone to thrush all year round - I used this every day for 3weeks then reduced it - now only spray the frogs once a week or as and when needed and his frogs are very healthy, firm and perfect. It's not expensive, about £8-£12 a bottle and from my local saddlery
