Found 2 small lumps either side of my mares fetlock (right fore). They are about the size of a 50 pence coin. They are very soft to touch but don't seem painful and she doesn't seem lame. Has anyone seen anything like this before. I haven't and am not sure whether this is something I need to ask the vet to look at.

Any advice greatly appreciated

Im having trouble with my girl being lame atm (see my posts!) and when the vet came out on Tuesday, he bought up a small swelling, about the size of my thumbnail, so the same size as you discribe and he now wants her in to nerveblock to check her suspensory as this ligament splits above the fetlock and passes down each side (I believe?)

Although you say your girl isnt lame, so may not be related... just though id mention it as they are also not painful to touch and i have an ultra sensitive wooss of a girl!

good luck though and please let us know if you ever get to the bottom of it. x

She has had major probs with various ligaments since 2005 when we bought her. She came sound and was doing well wth light hacking until 8 weeks ago when she became very sore and was having probs turning left or right even in the field. She is much easier at doing this now (almost back to norma) but just found the lumps yesterday and haven;t noticed them before.

My horse has small fluid swellings on the sides of her fetlock joints in front (either side of the "ball" shape of the fetlock). She has been fluctuating in weight recently and when she drops weight the swellings go down, and also when she has been moving about the field more. I asked my vet about them and she reckons it's the weight of my horse putting extra strain on the joints so they are swelling. It's not a significant swelling though, although I keep a very close eye on her legs just in case.
