My tb is possibly the most sensitive horse ever, literally everything rubs him so i have to be really careful with boots, rugs etc. Now his numnah is fine during the summer, however during the winter when he is clipped it really rubs him, not under the panels of the saddle but under the flaps. So what i need is a numnah with a really soft underside, I was considering one with a sheepskin underside but i am worried it will really make him sweat underneath :/ any suggestions will be more than welcome!!!

You could the hkm gently range, that's very soft on the side against the horse and not expensive.

if you go down the sheepskin route, I think it pays to spend more. Some of the cheaper ones are made up of small pieces and the seams where they're stitched together can rub.

I bought a Lemieux full monty numnah when my mare was getting slightly rubbed when her coat was changing. Its really nice and I've washed it several times and its always come up like new.
They aren't cheap at around £100, but then I don't think any of the good sheepskin makes are particularly cheap!
They do do the half lined ones too which are a bit cheaper and might do the job?

With the sheepskin, you more or less get what you pay for! I like the Lemieux full pads very much, as do many horses. Ecogold also v good - the binding is very soft and low profile. I've not had problems with Polypads rubbing but I prefer them aged if possible.

What are you using now?

One thing I found with the Lemieux is the numnahs were not a good fit with a bigger saddle. The numnahs have a border and my saddle which is not a particularly large 18" sits on top of that bit where it folds back around the edge. So the saddle sits on a ridge and presses this into the back.

I now have a horsedreams Christ saddlecloth which is lovely quality http://www.horsedream.co.uk/

I've got a sensitive skinned one too & use Nuumed sheepskin pads on him. They work for him so I just stick with what I know! Lemieux sound pretty similar but I've yet to be brave enough to branch out from Nuumed!

Another vote for HKM Gently

I also have guite a few lemuiex prodicts and in my opinion there is nothing better. They wear and wash so well and are just generally far better quality than any other sheepskin product I have come across.

If you are worried about cost have a look on ebay/preloved/fb groups to get a second hand one

I'm a fan of Lemieux numnahs for my sensitive TB. I also have a Bartl one that I had custom made because I wanted a particular colour. I have a 17.5 saddle and the Bartl numnah is definitely bigger, although both are a large. I still prefer the Lemieux though.

Thank you everyone! some brilliant suggestions! he is currently in a NuuMed high wither numnah as his wither is huuuuuuuge so unless he has a high wither numnah it presses down on him really badly. I really like the look of the HKM gently and the Lemieux. Don't mind spending a bit more as i'd rather he was comfy!
