Soft Poos / change of food has made no improvement

French bulldog of 3 years has always been fed on Eukanuba lamb and rice (small/medium breeds) as was advised by the breeder. He recently was at the vet's because of irritation of the bowel but has always had problems with gas and discomfort. The vet suggested changing his food to Hills prescription diet "gastrointestinal health". He seems perfectly ok and no discomfort but his poos are still very soft, in fact I would say worse than before, I am not in the UK so many of the brands of food mentioned in this forum are unavailable here. If anyone has knowledge of this breed and can give useful advice as how to try and find something that will suit him better I would be very grateful. He does not belong to me but I look after him when his owner is at work. I have 2 golden retrievers so cannot just leave his food down as a help himself when hungry type of thing as has been suggested!!
 
Assuming there is no underlying medical issue or allergy to a particular protein source, then a dose of prokolin followed by RMB added to the diet with the occasional spoonful of live yogurt should help firm things up and settle down any inflammation in the gut.

It contains many ingredients we try to avoid.
Why not try a better diet like skinners duck & rice or naturediet?
 
Mine's a GSD, he had very soft poop and he turned out to be coeliac - he can't eat any grain of any kind. Now on a grain free food (nutrix, but I don't know if you can get this abroad - you might want to google to see what no-grain foods you can get) and try that. Solid poop, fatter happier dog! I do not find most of the foods you mention here. I will try to find via Google the one with no or at least less cereal and try that. thanks for your replies.
 
Have a look at Millies Wolfheart, cheaper than Orijen but still really really good and UK made and (mostly sourced from the UK).
 
Fish4dogs if you can get it. I had a similar problem with my new dog. This improved everything and has none of the artificial rubbish.
