I am seeing a horse this weekend that I really really like the look of, however he has had a soft tissue injury and has had 7 months off, he is now sound and is now being brought into work (light hacking mainly), I dont have any more info until I see him on the details of the injury, but wanted to see if anyone had had any experiences with this sort of injury and what the outcome was? :D

vodka oranges all round :)

my horse had a tendon problem..i bought him straight off the track with it and it turned out it wasnt just any 'problem' he has torn the main tendon that runs down the back off his leg..he is now 99% sound and will never be 100% he can be schooled but not jumped or lunged and hacking on a solid surface is best for building the tissue back up :) also very soft surfaces i.e deep mud or soft sand can cause him to go lame as it pulls at his legs. just trot this horse up and down and take someone with u to watch for any lameness and be warned this horse could be buted or sedated up to its eye balls! so maybe ask for its bloods to be done? :)

hope this helps! x

Sounds like a tendon injury to me. It entirely depends on the extent of the original injury as to what the horse will be capable of in the future. Many racehorses return to top level competition after having done a leg - Inglis Dreaver won 2 more world hurdles, Istabraq - legs like glass, won 3 Champion Hurdles.

It is possible to fix and carry on as normal but for the next year at least you will be being very careful with what you do with the horse and what ground you ride it on.
