soft tissue damage

Hi everyone not posted for a while due to numerous visits to vets and a huge bill , has anyone got any info on soft tissue injury my horse became lame about a month ago after box rest and vet streight away then went for nerve blocking and xrays vet seems to think he has soft tissue damage between coffin bone and pastern but seems to think with box rest till at least end of april rest he will hopefully make a full recovery ??? Im a bit worried this wont be the case knowing my string of bad luck and quite gutted about it for my poor boy .
Anyone got any experience with this type of problem???

as your vet says

,soft tissue damage will repair itself,jsut be careful when reintroducing turnout...i know if it was my lad box rest...whatever the outcome is a NO NO...would have to build his own little electrified paddock,and keep moving it,he would do more harm than good in

if you really are not sure seek a second opinion..but as long as you manage him right and dont allow him the option to get overly exicited it should heal well

you know your horse...manage him that will keep him sane and happy

Depends on which soft tissue is damaged. Normally if insured an MRI scan is good as it will give an accurate diagnosis and determine whether you are dealing with an acute or a chronic injury.
The prognosis with soft tissue damage can vary depending on the ligaments affected, the level of damage and the time ti took to diagnose. Additionally depending on the damage it is normally advised to turn away for a period of between six months and eighteen months although your vet will know best.
Sadly I have just retired my boy due to soft tissue damage (collateral ligament) in his right fore as despite extensive treatment he is unlevel.

Thankyou the vet said he diddnt think an MRI scan was needed at this stage as the treatment would still be the same box rest . He is insured thank god! so i would imagine this would be the next step if he doesnt come sound . Im just dreading the thaught that he could have this problem ongoing as hes only 6 in april and baught him as a baby after much heartache with losing my old boy to old age this horse has really helped me live again if you know what i mean
