I purchased my second Soft Track surface 18 months ago - choosing their fibre-sand mix for our outdoor school.

Over the past year, weve noticed that the fibres ( a pink/red horse hair type fibre) have mostly left the surface and formed hair balls in one corner. The surface is deep even in the wet weather that weve been having. We roll the surface weekly, dont lunge on it and only ride on it about 8 times a week.

We went up to the stand at YHL and to his credit Robert admitted that they discontuined that surface some time ago as the fibres werent working. He offered us some stabilising fibres (the new ones he is promoting) at 1/3rd off plus haulage and vat.

Problem is, we are stuck with a surface thats not fit for purpose unless we shell out another £1k.

Has anyone else had a problem with Soft track surface ? Im not trying to stir up trouble here as the company is great to deal with , Im just wondering if others are in the same position as us... and wondering what you have done about it.

a lot of people have problems with fibres who ever they are bought off rising to the top in dry weather, especially if you use harrows on it. Maybe consider having the fibres off them but on the basis they guarrantees the ride/surface in your school is satisfactory, preferably get it in writing. If you can then get all the fibres laid out and rotovated in 3- 4 inches deep,we did this and they stayed in a lot better than harrowing in.Although we do water in dry spells.

I have an issue with stiller uk who did nearly £8k drainage work on our menage in Jan and it is still getting wet and they dont want to know

You have the same consumer rights when you buy Soft track materials as when you buy a toaster. If it does not do what they said it would, then you are entitled to get them to fix it, or give you your money back. I suggest you call your citizens advice bureau and then go back to Soft track and ask them to fix the problem. It should not cost you anything for the new materials and, if they put the other stuff down, then they should also put the new material down too.

I would be offering Robert the chance to remove the old fibres, and replace with the new fibres FREE OF CHARGE otherwise he would be getting a nice claims form in the post.

Load of rubbish - a menage surface is meant to last longer than 18 months and by the sounds of it, its been rubbish from the start.
