Santa very kindly got me a new Heritage Comfort bridle and a cheaper drop noseband to go with it, but being brand spanking new the leather is a little bit stiff. I've just put some old school neatsfoot oil on it and its sunk in but has left a bit of a white film on it...is that just cos my oil is rather old? I've got a leather cleaner/conditioner which will probably help but are there any particularly good oild etc as my neatsfoot is old and almost empty anyway?

An old saddler tought me years ago to warm vegetable oil in microwave and soak new leather in it, for best results warm enough oil to hand warm temperature so you can totally emerce the bridle in a bucket or bowl, leave it to soak, then remove and wipe off eccess as you play with the leather to make it plyable before soaping. A word of warning - never use oil that is too hot, if you cannot put your finger in it it is too hot and may damage the leather.
