Well I am a bit obsessed with the weather at the best of times but having looked at what was in store I was a bit  and it was only worse!

Thursday I was in the Foxhunter class, which I jumped last year (that was until I came off having been jumped off in the double oopps) So plan was stay on and enjoy it. We have had some good shows recently so build on that. I can't get stressy or worried on this horse as she is so sensitive, as I read LouiseM write on a post, 'be calm and confident and if you feel neither fake it!' or something equally helpful.

So we warmed up and at this point it had been raining for at least 3 hours non stop, quite heavy:(. The ground was holding up well but we were starting to get surface water in places. my wonderful husband came along and he is the king of studding up and he did a great job as she was foot perfect. I haven't jumped or competed in so much rain so didn't know what she would be like.

So we were soemthing like last but 2 to go and they had about 6 clears from about 30 starters and we didn't disgrace ourselves ( or should I say I didn't as the mare is a little super star :D) She took a dive at the last from two fence which was a treble and had all three parts. My fault as i need to remember to keep my shoulders back and trust on the last stride. Very pleased with her though and got home and popped her out in the very sheltered field we have at home, for the night. After cleaning and washing everything I sat down at 9.15 and then it was 5.00am start:eek:

So today we were up and at the show for 7.00, when the wind wasn't too bad. I was walking the course at 7.15 and with very little people about and I haven't jumped 1.25 competitively before so could have done with someone aorund to at least keep me calm  but got my head straight and warmed the mare up and we were 6th in and I saw a lovely clear in front of me and got my butt in gear. now I know I hunch my shoudlers but please believe me she is one big heavy horse. i am working on it, honest :o and I know we are deep to the water tray ( jump before viaduct) but if i push for the long one I am likely to get jumped off and she makes up too much room like she did anyway . The double and treble are my bad, as in the treble I am getting used to jumping bigger jumps and you feel slightly like you are in a washing machine and I'm just trying to stay in the plate.

But overall 12 faults at my first 1.25 I am very very pleased with 1) I stayed on :D and 2) where we had the poles I know what I need to do to retify it. Then I can up the pace a little and get rid of any time penalties too. Not been known to get those before, my trainer will be proud I got them :p

You can then imagine my surprise when I heard that the rest of the show was cancelled. So sad for the other competitors but so chuffed I got to jump:D

Thanks if you managed to read it all and help yourself to dark chocolate digestives, the packet must be over a foot long:cool:

Your horse has some serious jump. I think she looks best when you are slightly up a gear. The line just before the water tray looked fab but she also looks strong down it hence why I think you ended up deep at the water tray? Well done I am impressed the poles stayed up as the trees are going mad in the background!

gorgeous horse, she has a lovely athletic jump! but i can definitely see why you say it is hard to sit to on a long one/over big fences!!! :D

well done :D

Well done - I think you ride her beautifully, you should be very chuffed, the fences were enormous!

I always like when you post video's, love your mare :)

Hi everyone, thanks for your kind words I am one lucky girl aren't I :D

LEC you are so right about being better on a forward stride which i always prefer but i need to allow her forward rather than her charging, aka watertray to viaduct jumps and then taking the front rail out when she makes up too much room. :o. You may have seen how she does that little half jump and throws me back and takes control. Little monkey! But the final line was much better. when I can ride forward. then it feels awesome!

LJR, you are too kind, I have so much to learn and she is very good to me, but we really have formed a partnership and that makes it all fun. :)

Hope to have another great report from two days at the Royal Norfolk at the end of the month. I dream of giving up work and jumping everyday but meanwhile I need to pay for my two

Think you'll have to buy both as can't decide either, both brill photos! Watched the Vidio and thought oh yes think I could manage that height but the photos make the jumps look huuuge!
Well done and thanks for posting. Getting sick of the "glad I'm a caring horse owner and decided not to even attempt going to Suffolk in those awful conditions" reports on fb as I arrived and walked the rings and thought the going ok and would have jumped if allowed (not as high as you but that's me being a wimp), your horse seemed to cope well and didn't see any evidence of sandbags holding the jumps down etc. Think most people spend too much time jumping on a surface and forget how to jump on grass.

The video and the photos are lovely. You need to buy both of those photos they are lovely.

Your mare has got a lovely jump and I know the feeling about being jumped off. I'm rather on the little side and powerful horses ping me into outer space! She looks so laid back as well, until the water where you can see her pulling you forward!

Good luck at Royal Norfolk :)

Thanks everyone, she is a little super star and she has a job to do so if there are jumps to be jumped I do ;) Believe me she is treated like a princess and I would never have jumped her if it wasn't safe and she wasn't happy, she's way to precious for that.

Miss.Geek I wish I could blame lack of length of leg for finding it hard to stay in the plate but I'm 6ft and she's 17,2. Have to eat more pies:rolleyes:

LouiseM she is a branded Trakehner bred in Germany by Donnerhall and sold to Spain as a showjumper ar 2 year old (this is all I know).
