Very nice! Do you know her breeding?I have superb hacking from the field where I keep young horses so over the last year I’ve been musing over getting a safe but fun, low maintenance, happy hack who can also be a useful nanny.
Nothing has really made me want to look until a fortnight ago when an advert popped up that ticked all boxes (except the 15-15.2hh one!).
So I went on a road trip and bought her!
14.2hh 12yo Welsh D mare, been in the same lovely home for last 7 years doing low level RC, fun rides and hacking holidays.
Welcome to the IHW family, Henna.View attachment 172586

Some nice breeding in there IHW.Thanks guys.
Looking forwards to a break in the rain so I can take her for a jolly! And I agree, a bloody stupid time of year to buy a horse.
But her advert just spoke to me
She seems to have settled in very well and slotted into line already. My 3yo is besotted with her, Henna started off being a bit squealy about the invasion of personal space, but this afternoon has seemingly consented to having her face licked by the weirdo 3yo
@palo1 it doesn’t mean much to me but this is how she is bred.

Some very nice lines in there: Horeb, Thorneyside, Brynithon & Pennal all quite old fashioned in a good way. All of those studs have produced lovely stock. Henna should be able to offer a sparkling ride with just the right amount of WelshnessThanks guys.

He was black when I saw him as a youngster!rainhill and allbreed and sporthorse all have him as black, I actually wondered if there was a horeb euros II to start with but the reg number is right. Even as dark as welshies get I don't think he is ginger even with the socks in the way especially as there's a lot of photos of him over the years
1993 Euros won the Prince of Wales Cup, and if you were spectating he certainly looked black. We were at Lampeter before(‘92), standing much closer: dark liver chestnut. He was black when I saw him as a youngster!
That was at the Royal Welsh and Lampeter, we were showing C's at back end of the 80s.
Edit, one rather nice one by Cippyn Red Flyer.
The original dark horse, for sure. Maybe contact the Rees family - illustrious breeders - who identified and registered their colt, as to whether specsavers would have been useful?Unconvinced.View attachment 172668
