Thursday again...

What's everyone got planned?

I'm currently cursing the weather... had a tricky week this week with Darcy and the terrifying hedge of doom at home, so had arranged to use trainer's indoor today to try and get us back on track. But woke up to snow, and now it's just more relentless rain... 2 of my route options are flooded which leaves one really long wiggly way. I should probably accept my fate but I'm SO ANNOYED  the clouds just have to sneeze and it floods round here, grrrr.

Was toying with some show entries for the weekend but was waiting to see how he went today before entering  Can someone pause the winter for a bit please!

Other than that, just more pottering around the lanes with Kira and making sacrifices to the weather gods. Hope other WPers have better luck!

I have booked to go on an all weather gallop on Saturday which is perfect because we can go ahead regardless of the weather and Brieze could really do with a good long run. Howeverrrr...she has been very slightly cautious walking on hard surfaces the past couple of days so we'll see how she is. I'm hoping that it's just the new haylage my YO brought over a few days ago which caused her a dietary upset. It was very rich and as she is recently barefoot it might just have made her a bit footy. Removed it from her diet and hopefully she will detox it out. Only losing a tenner if we can't go so not going to cry over it, just praying it's not an abscess or something more sinister.

Just hacking for me, except can't really go far as all the bridleways cut across fields which are far too boggy to ride through :( so a small stretch of a canal path and back it is. I hate this weather!!

Hmm, am planning on going drag hunting but a bit concerned that it will be too boggy. But next week isn't looking any better though and the forecast seems clear on the day itself.

Seen a couple of cancelled events already.

Fortunately, we have a bonkers good school for draining at our yard. I've never seen a puddle in there - or if there is, then it's gone within hours.

Quiet few days at home for us this weekend. Only two horses in full work at the moment thanks to sore hocks, ulcers, manky teeth and allergies (all different horses 🙄)

Raz is dressage-ing again next weekend so I need to learn my test and start practicing these changes if we’re going to do any better than last time

Non horsey weekend for me as we have cousin in law and her young person staying with us. I have already had the 'no suitable horses/ponies to ride' discussion so at least that isn't up for debate. I haven't ridden since Tuesday so I think I will now give Cassie the rest of the week off and pick her up again after the weekend. I was contemplating booking a local indoor tomorrow morning, but I know I will be running round with the hoover and making beds etc. so put my sensible hat on for once. Husband would do some of the tidying, but he's in court all day (magistrate - not in the dock!!). I'm still trying to work out what we will eat Friday night - I think I will keep it simple and just do a big pasta bake and salad.

Have a good time all those out and about - keep safe, and dry!! xx

Good luck with the weather everyone, and with your visitors nikicb x

At the moment we have no outings planned for Saturday, and a pony birthday party at local all weather XC course on Sunday afternoon.

We do however have the chance of a new loan pony coming up soon, so need to arrange a date to go and meet him..... Very exciting 😀😀

Hacking, hacking and more hacking. Getting us both on track to do some early mornings next week due to fantastic flexi time at work allowing me to get in at 10am :)

I just hope the fields dry a little bit so its not too slippery. Might even see if we can find a dryish field to have a little canter in :)

I am so gutted Kingsclere is cancelled!! Might re route to Elvetham but it’s not my favourite of meets.

A very non-horsey weekend for me - flying over to Ireland tomorrow evening to see the in-laws (sigh).

Best of luck to everyone competing, hope you all manage to get there with limited flood issues!

I am hoping to hack tomorrow, lesson on Saturday and Sunday off. Off for an overnighter Mon/Tues at AM Dressage. Just hoping I can get to where I need to be as we have a lot of flooding here. I drove to pilates this morning through a flooded lane to find instructor couldn't get to the venue and I just managed to get back through the flood as it had become much deeper very quickly! I don't fancy getting stuck in the lorry with a horse aboard! I hope everyone else is managing to keep dry!

well, we were not defeated by the floods. Ha. In your face, Mother Nature. I came up with a route that was passable and off we went. Took twice as long as normal but SOOOOO worth it to have a lovely quiet indoor school to ride in, and get Mr I Can't Think to actually concentrate on what he was being asked to do because there was nothing else to distract him. Hurrah! This week has been pretty challenging so it was just what the doctor ordered to get us back in the right frame of mind. Show entries are in so fingers crossed for a break in the weather

Darcy loves looking at his reflection ;)

Glad you got out MP.
me too... we needed it! was in a bit of a funk about wishing I could have a straightforward horse for once or be at a nice yard with a peaceful arena. A bit woe is me. A change is as good as a rest, as they say, I feel much more cheerful about it all now :)

Good luck with the freeze/soak dodging ;)

I’ve not before but elvetham has been cancelled due to rain. Big sigh. Prob for the best as we have guests Saturday so I should really be getting ready for that rather than getting my horse ready for hunting! might look for course hire but more likely will do some jump practice at the yard.

Good luck to everyone who's competing/hacking/lessons/swimming this weekend!!

I have a test riding clinic on Ted this weekend with Tessa Thorne which I'm looking forward to. My sister is taking Harry to do pc team sj on Sunday so hopefully she doesn't get blown away lol

Well, it's been HOT here. Spring missed the memo and it seems to be summer. Had a few days up in the 40c range so I have been hiding. Saturday is also hot but then Sunday it's cooling down so I am going to hack both horses out. Henry has been enjoying his holiday but I want to get him hacking out over summer and build some strength so we will just pick our days to ride, trying to avoid the really hot weather.

Stay dry all.

Good luck to everyone who’s plans are dependant on the weather! Hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would be (I’m near London), mostly just drizzle. Paddy and I are going to hickstead to try out their new arena eventing course that opened this year. I am so, so excited - they even have a water complex! In an arena! And my lovely mum has got us a total of four sessions as there was an offer. So lots to do over the winter!

Well I couldn't even get to the yard yesterday!! Main road in flooded and backed up for miles so turned for home instead. Fellow liveries who were there earlier checked horses and fields (luckily there's is sloped) and the yard checks them later so I feel slightly less guilty...
Road was still closed this morning, hopefully they will manage to pump the water off it by this afternoon.

AccEv I love having your contrasting weather reports! Very yin and yang.

LP hickstead looks great. Let us know what it’s like. Someone said there isn’t much small stuff, sub 80cm, be good to know if that’s changed.

I'm actually off tomorrow, so riding out for my local trainer tomorrow, then riding mine after. Hopefully the shoot won't be out as they shoot both in the woods and on the gallops.
Sunday Mindy is off for her first proper hack away from home. Friend is coming with me, hopefully his horse will behave, it is a bit of a lunatic! Prepping for our first fun ride in over 3 years so looking forward to it.
