Anyone know of cheap and cheerful solar lights for stables? I have no mains electricity.
I have seen a lot of security ones which I guess are motion activated? I want one with a switch as it would be lights for inside the stables.

Also, does any one have any idea if you could have solar panels fitted that you could run a plug off, say for boiling a kettle and running clippers?
Any ideas?

I have several lights with PIR from the Organic Gardening Catalogue. Mine are for walking between house and yard. They are excellent, I have just replaced one after four years use.

I know they do a shed light too, which works with a larger battery. Try them.

Think you will need a generator for clipping and anything to do with heat need a lot of power so to boil a kettle you would be better with a camping stove and use gas.Just ordered some of the stable lights from Bedazzled they run 3 lightsfrom a battery on a torch which you take home to charge or in your car.

Stables are fairly close to house, around 200m but there is some forest and field in between so it would be quite difficult to put mains in.
Normally for clipping I use two extension cables. One has a trip switch thingy, which does.

Maplins and Solarmate all do some neat outfits. But if you want to run clippers and high powered kit, you need to charge 12volt batteries and then connect them to an inverter which will produce 240 volts. A good source of info is any company that does camper trucks, as these use 12 volt supplies to run the TV, fridge etc in the camper. The other possibility for lighting only, are propane gas floodlights

Perhaps worth a look!
