Solar powered floodlights- thumbs up

Not yet aspiring to having a proper menage, I use the lower part of my field which is flat, dry and well sheltered. However it is the furthest point from the yard, so to keep going over winter I needed light which was going to cost a fortune to install.

Being a bit sceptical I bought 2 solar powered LED floodlights from Amazon to try.
Absolutely brilliant, I schooled tonight in pitch black, obviously 2 arent enough to light the whole area, but it was enough to do some basic work. So impressed that Ive ordered 2 more. At a total price of £100 for all 4, its less than the electricity bill would be for the winter if I had mains.

We have just put up solar security lights outside our barn, not sure if they work yet as every day since we installed them its been foggy so they haven't had time to charge up yet lol

They come with fixings for all different applications, but I have found you get the best coverage if they are mounted about 4 foot high. Works well on the top of an electric fencing stake so they are easily moved as well

By the way, these are dusk till dawn lights , no PIR so they come on automatically when its dark enough. They do however have an on off switch so you dont waste the charge. But we initially charged them indoors under the kitchen halogen lights, couldnt wait for the sun to come out.

We charged them initially under the kitchen halogen lights cos it wouldnt stop raining when we got them, and they charged brilliantly.

Can't see how you would need planning. They would be totally temporary. Very tempted to get some, they sound amazingly good.

You are all welcome, maybe I should ask for commission!!!. By the way, my paddock is surrounded by fields and a local railway line so no neighbours to complain, but as already said, they arent on for long enough to upset any one. Went down tonight to turn them on cos I found a big clump of thistle i wanted to dig up, wonderful to be able to do this "in the dark". Unfortunately my 2 extra ones didnt arrive today, so cant set them up over the weekend after all. Very upset, the first lot arrived next day

Just to play Devil's Advocate, it might be an idea to read all the reviews. Some purchasers are not happy, hence a couple of used ones for sale on Amazon. Not knocking the OP's thread as I haven't tried them and they clearly work for her but there are always two sides to every story. One reviewer even suggests a better make which is also cheaper, others stated that their's died within two years.

Since buying a sat nav that was pretty pathetic (I found it so frustrating, that I eventually gave it away to an enemy!) on the strength of a few reviews, I've become a bit cynical of these reviews. Anyone can post them, even the seller. The reviews on that sat nav were clearly written by the sellers as in practice it just could not match up to the description.

Dry rot, I did read all the reviews , on these lights and the ones recommended by those who weren't happy with them. These scored by far the highest marks for construction, durability and performance. You will never please all of the people all of the time, and we often have different expectations of a product than another purchaser. Probably why we don't all have the same phones.! They work for me, and do what they say they will. I'm a happy bunny.

Thanks for the link, I have solar lighting at my little yard which is absolutely brilliant, I am so pleased with it. However, I was only thinking yesterday that my life would be complete if I had a floodlight at either end of the stable block, one for washing up feed bowls, the other for stuffing haynets.

Bright eyes, dont know how well a pic would come out, but I will have a go as soon as its stops, raining, hailing and blowing a hooley long enough to actually get down there and turn them on!!
