OK, cleaned my TriZone boots, used once, and posted them, I did wrap them tight, but hey, they are Tri Zone!
Purchaser complains they are split, I asked him to return them he wants to send me a photo, I don't really care, I won't refund them unless I can examine them ...
what do you think........... ?

If he wants a refund he has to send them back surely? Why should you be out of pocket and without items? Then again I don't sell on eBay. Preloved is much easier to sell on!

I had them on preloved but no one bought them and they were on Ebay twice, I don't know anyone who wants one boot except someone who already has the other one!!!!!
I stopped using Ebay when my "shabby chic" Barbour was returned with "cigarette burns" .. I don't smoke!
There were also "cat hairs" ....yes what about it?

I would also let the seller send you a pic, perhaps its something that can be talked through, any communications with them will start to tell you a lot about them, also check their past feedback, even the wording of these can tell you who you are dealing with

If they are a scammer or serial complainer you will almost certainly lose out, if Ebay offer them a refund they will send them a prepaid label to return the boots to you - I am not sure who foots the bill for that replacement label though

Scammers tend to choose the part refund option though

I've been on both sides of this - had someone complain an item wasn't exactly as described and wanted money off (I said no and offered a refund) and also bought a rug which wasn't the size it was sold as.

I can see why a purchaser wouldn't want to send the item back, they could end up with no money and no product. I think you'll need to work with eBay on this so there's evidence on the what has been claimed/returned/refunded or refused. If it's PayPal would won't necessarily get a choice in the refund if eBay find in the buyers favour.

They were good with me on both instances and because the complaint made against me was subjective they were happy with my offer of a refund upon return of goods but had I not made that offer they probably would of forced me to.

Its not subjective, they are either split or not, but as they were unmarked when they left me, any scuffs or wear would indicate they have been substituted.

Usually someone makes a little split to get a partial refund

If you think they have swapped them ask for a pic now and use that in your defence on the ebay case

If they get awarded a full refund by ebay then once they have confirmed the posting of the goods (whether they foot the bill or ebay sends them the label) and Ebay verify that the tracking number is valid they will get a refund. By the time you get the goods back and make a protest it will be too late as the ebay case will automatically have been closed

Hope that makes sense

I think they would have to be pretty desperate to actually cut "my" boots, I also think it is very unlikely they split in transit, Ebay don't like purchaser and seller communicating directly, they like all comms done through them.
I will see what happens next, they seem to have a normal profile on Ebay.

They will raise a case with comments and thats where they can add pictures for you to look at - the case will be raised anyway I am sure so I would insist on pictures if you think you could tell if they were your boots or not

I did this recently with a 'Sabre' bridle (actually was cruddy foreign rubbish) I put pictures on the case so that ebay could compare them to the ad picture. All communications were done correctly through ebay

That way when ebay get involved (at a certain point during the case) they can see the history of what you have said to each other and the pictures

Its very common for people trying it on to damage the item to a small extent not enough to warrant it unuseable and then ask for a partial refund - its just their way of getting something for very little money

I sold a martingale and few other things and had similar response from buyer... They opened a case and wanted half off wouldn't return, but they went quiet when I never gave in and eBay resolved in my favour after no response from buyer.. Stick to your guns.. People do try it on.

I collect china and buy pieces on eBay .
I paid a lot for a perfect bowl when it arrived it had a manufacturing fault now in china condition is everything .
I emailed the seller saying this perfect bowl is clearly a second she replied the tone basically showed she thought I was trying it on I sent a photo she apologised and we negotiated a 50 % reduction and I use it as a fruit bowl.
I am amazed that people damage goods to get a reduction , some people are real creeps.

Some people already have the same item they are buying in damaged condition, they buy your perfect item and then send photos of the damaged one. I have a friend who sells ceramics who got ripped off this way, the second time her buyer tried it on my friend checked her feedback and found it sadly lacking for the amount she had purchased.
Stick to your guns and offer to pay for them to be returned then you will see if they are actually the ones you sold! Get a photo of the "alleged" damage first.
Good Luck

I have seen a photo of boots which are indeed in a poor state, I know mine were perfect a month ago and they were posted in a polybag, and though I parcel taped them quite tight, I am not sure if this could have caused the extreme damage, they have not been returned though I have had a tracking number ......... needless to say the purchaser got a bit annoyed when I said I would refund if indeed they were my boots!
I will know if they are mine as the insides were perfect [well so were the outsides!]. Next time [if there is a next time] I will mark my goods in a secret way, and take a photo of same!
It seems hardly worthwhile for an item which costs about £25.00 new.

I had problems with a seller a couple of months ago. I sold a horse item on ebay. Buyer then sent me a "not as described" communication, saying that the item had neoprene in it, and it was no good as their horse is allergic to neoprene. My description did not say the item had a neoprene lining, as I didn't think it was of any concern.

On the otherhand if my horse was allergic to neoprene, I think I would have probably have asked the question if neoprene was on the product, or a quick search would have revealed the answer.

They also wanted to return the item, as apparently the neoprene wasn't in good condition. I doubted this was true, but as the item was still in it's original packaging, I hadn't taken it out to examine.

Waited about three weeks for the item to be sent back to me. They decided to keep it, and couldn't be bothered telling me.

Now if I am selling anything of any value on ebay, I will take a comprehensive selection of photos, then when you get scammers such as above, you can tell them where to get off too.

I got caught out once on ebay so I take extensive photos for the listing so any damage would have been obvious. Let the buyer send u photo's through ebay and compare- should be easy to see if theyre the same boot or not

Really its not easy to tell as they are identical except that the ones in the photo are badly damaged........... after all the purchaser could quite easily say , "these are not the boots which were in the pictures which were on Ebay!" ............ I actually find it difficult to believe any boots could get so badly damaged, it's not the just part that would wear in use it is the bit that curves round the fetlock, large cracks. ............ don't know if anyone has had this problem with Tri-zone.
He has not asked for part refund, but insisted on using some carrier I have not heard of............ and they have not arrived. As far as I am concerned it is up to him to get them back to me. I used the P.O. which was quite cheap.

But I haven't been asked for a partial refund, as it stands, I think I have the money [paypal] and he has a pair of cracked boots [and possibly my perfect boots], it just seems too much hassle for him to take over such a small amount of money.

I guess they wanted to keep the boots AND have a full refund! A photo of boots is one thing, but I guess sending you a set of ancient boots was too much... Well done for waiting it out.

What was that all about?

You called their bluff :D

What a waste of time. I would imagine that the ebay case has been automatically closed but if it hasnt you could add a picture or at least a comment to say that the boots returned were yours and not the ones in the pic but I would put it behind you and resell the boots
