Dear H&H

I wonder if anyone could recommend a Solicitor that could help me and advise regarding a claims insurance matter where I feel unfairly treated. I am based in Scotland.

Many thanks

Jenny

Isn't there some sort of ombudsman you could apply to first?

Hi, the Financial Ombudsman is the best person to deal with your complaint. I have posted a thread on this today in 'Veterinary' and this discussion forum titled "The problems with insurance companies".

IMHO persistency pays off!

Alternatively Caroline Bowler of Actons Solicitors is an equine solicitor who is fantastic. Her details can be found on their website www.actons.co.uk/individual/equine/

I spoke to a few solicitors when I had issues with my previous insurer - the options they gave were imo less favourable than those from going through the ombudsman, plus I would have had to have paid a lot of money out. Although it is a slow process, I wouldn't get a solicitor involved until you have exhausted the formal complaints and ombudsman route.

Go on the legal 500 website (google it) and look up insurance specialist firms in your area, that should give you independant advice on who is best near you.
