We went to Solihull yesterday with our homebred 3 yr old by Contendro yesterday. Dragged her out of the field, luckily hadn't rolled. Plaited her up and off we set with a friend's 3 yr old by Weston Justice neither of which had been to a party before. We got there as the 2 yr olds were being presented so watched for a while. Some lovely horses seemed to be getting lowish marks so we began to get a bit apprehensive wondering if we'd done the right thing bringing them.
Went to the vetting and the vet said 'I want to do some extra bits with yours', so had her turning a tight circle and reining back. Then she asked us if we'd mind her consulting her husband, also a vet. We thuoght she'd found something wrong but she just wanted him to confirm her decision and awarded her a 9.75. Our friend's horse was next he got 9.5. On to the evaluation. She is only 15.2 and although bred to SJ is out of a mare that also evented so we had entered her in both SJ and event sections. but hadn't expected to do that well in the event section. She behaved really well but was a bit flat in the walk but jumped amazing (only done a grid once before). To our amazement she was awarded 2 elites and champion 3 yr old SJ and event. The judges were impressed with how she measured her fences and thuoght about what she was doing. Then our friend's horse was in next and he got a 1st premium in the event section so good day all round.
