Am looking into getting a new lorry built; does anyone have any experience (good or bad) of Solitaire in Leire, Leics pls? PM me if you prefer.....many thanks in advance!

I went to look but didn't purchase. They aren't tilt cab and I didn't like them. The paint jobs looked really good quality though the standard designs a little dated and I really didn't like the carpeted interior walls. I got better value for money elsewhere IMO :). The only pro with them for me was that they do however seem to hold their resale value relatively well, the decent payload, and the quality (if not design) of the paint job. I can PM you the name of my builder if you like? Im really impressed with it still.

Yes please.....open to any suggestions/recommendations - preferably in the Warks/Leics/W Mids/Northants area but would also consider Oxon/Notts.

Tx.

I know its not in the area you specified but what about Kevin Parker in Preston?

The guys are great - one of them spent about 3 hours walking us through everything the first time we went down :)
I can send you pics of our lorry if you want to see the build quality

Fizzer - if you have anything concrete on them pls let me know.....I visited them earlier today; they had two in build horseboxes and a couple of chassis on the yard. About three guys working there.

I don't think so, their websites still running and they were advertising in the back of H&H within the last month (can't remember exactly which week). Might be some info on the grapevine though or something? :)

ETA there were 3 or 4 guys in the workshop when I went and a woman showing us round.

ETA gunnergundog did you get my PM? Ive just realised its not in my sent items *confused face*

I know you would prefer a builder in area you specified but we recently had one built by Wilkinson Horseboxes in Chorley Lancs,we did loads of looking round at different builders north & south.Only a small outfit but the guy knows his stuff.Built to our specification, its a 7.5t with a good payload which we need as we run a transport business as well as go out & compete.Realy pleased with the build, they have a website or phone 07815070122,friendly & helpful. Also very reasonable with price compared to some of a similar standard.

When I was looking for a lorry someone told me that they were not in business anymore, obviously I given dudd information . This was a year or so ago.

I personally love PRB boxes, v. high quality

Me too! However what I love and what I can afford are two different things I suspect! Also, would find it hard to justify the expenditure on what is basically just going to be a hunting lorry that goes to a SJ venue once in a blue moon.

What I'm after is a 7.5ton (poss SWB) stalled for two but actually only to carry one large hunter. Living wise all I need will fit into less than 5foot - bit of seating with storage underneath, a wardrobe and a couple of other cupboards and a couple of saddle racks. No cookers/fridges/TVs/Microwaves/showers etc. Basically, I don't want to be leaving £60K+ of horsebox on the side of the road when I go off hunting. :D

Have looked at Winterborne but prefer something a bit more modern.

Any idea what the start price of a Wilkinson is?
