just done horsey's mane with a solo comb... needless to say it doesnt look overly good... ie some bits are longer than others.

Would I be ableto get away with using scissors to trim up the longer bits, or would this make it look even worse.

He hates his mane being pulled.last time i tried, he dragged someone half way across the yard. He is a tb so i cant hog him, or just leave it to grow...

Have similar probs to you, except mine won't even let me use a solocomb!
Why not just go back over it with the solocomb? Also, buy a thinning blade (from clippersharp?) and bursh it through the mane after, I find it gives a more natural look!

Can't you just go over the longer bits again, that's what I tend to do. My ISH hates having his mane pulled too so use a solo comb, looks good everytime, had an international eventer comment on it before so must be doing something right!

Just grab the long pieces and use the solocomb on them without cutting any of the shorter bits.
I love using the solocomb but I have to remember that it always looks odd for a couple of days until it settles.

thanks for the replys.... just didnt want to start snipping again, and end up horsey looking even worse than he does now!

I can never work the darn thing. Make a complete horlicks with it. have to admit (hides) that we only pull manes a few times a year - and the rest of the time use scissors!!!!!! I can hear the purists screaming.
