I have benn told a friend that the treeless soloution saddles will solve all my problems as they fit every horse no matter what shape of size. I have a new forest pony who for many years has been hard to fit saddles to. Are they worth the money as they are very expensive?

I'm not sure about those saddles in particular but with the treeless saddles you could still have the problem of it slipping/ moving around if he is very round or has really low withers. My horse is a barrel and she has a saddle from the arabian saddle company - you might still be able to find a traditional saddle to fit if the treeless doesn't fit/ you don't like riding in it.

Treeless don't necessarily 'work' for every horse, even though they may technically 'fit' the majority, so my advice would definately be to get a fitter out of any make you are looking at first and foremost to see whether, firstly it could work for your horse, and secondly, whether it will work for you. I would highly recommend the Fhoenix saddles as well (and I think these are a bit cheaper ;-)!). I would also say that it is worth trialling whichever saddle you like for a couple of weeks to test it doing normal every day things, as sometimes just riding round the school in it in front of the fitter doesn't necessarily give you all the feedback you need!

I have a Solutions Saddle which I like very much, but they do not necessarily suit every horse or rider and you still need to have a saddle fitter (one who specialises in treeless saddles) to fit it to the horse. However, you can rent them for a small fee per week which will give you a chance to see if they suit you and your horse.
