Solution, Reactor-Panel, Wow, Monoflap?

I now have my first young horse who is only just 5. He has a little more filling out to do but I am looking forward to seeing his muscles develop.

Because he is going to change shape i am concerned that any saddle I buy him now won't just need the gullet changing but possibly other parts of the saddle as well.

I am based near Newbury but want a really good fitter who will fit other types of saddle apart from the traditional treed. I have no objection to a treed saddle but would love to be able to try him in all sorts of saddle so that I can find one he really likes and that helps put me in the optimum position for both his comfort and mine.

Does anyone know of a fitter who does this?

ReactorPanel sadly you'll be struggling - if you'd like to try one do contact the company in the US - www.reactorpanel.com - and Carmi the owner willa dvise you how to proceed as the agency situation in the UK is not all it seems to be.

Most alternative saddles have specialist agents/fitters, most independent fitters/retailers fit only traditional saddles. I use to fit RP and traditional but see above....

If you find a fitter that will alter traditional treed saddles then you increase the saddles you can choose from - some of us are happy to adjust beech laminate trees a handful of times and that can be enough for some youngsters, though, as you know, they can change a lot! Also being pragmatic something like a Mattes correction numnah can help with a rapidly changing horse - a very stable and fine-tunable shimming system.

Thanks for your free advice! I have booked a saddler from Devon who claims to be able to find a saddle that will fit my boy for life but the more I learn about saddle fitting the more worried I become as it seems that treed or treeless is not the problem but finding the correct saddle for the horse is.

If it is right for him I will happily buy new but I don't want to get it wrong.

If they fit ReactorPanels please do speak to the company in the US before having them out. And even with fully adjustable saddles, be REALLY suspicious of anyone guaranteeing a saddle for life, there is no such thing.
