I can recommend the HM Vogue, I have had the dressage one for a couple of years and its super comfy for both me and the horse, it takes away the worry of saddle fit and maintenance and my horse's topline is superb.
The Solutions also have an excellent reputation though I believe a little more expensive.
With treeless saddles just make sure the girth is always tight and check it frequently with the Vogue as the memory foam settles as the horse warms up!
I prefer the original Solution range to the SMART. And Solution saddles are designed for all disciplines and are allowed under FEI rules which makes them more versatile.
Oh, and no you don't have to make sure your girth is always tight - this seems to be a common misapprehension about treeless
I have the original Solutions one and I am very happy with it. Haven't tried the HM though, perhaps it is as good. I would suggest you try both before you buy as not all riders feel comfortable in these saddles. I have the gulleted Solutions, but I didn't like the one without a gullet at all.
I have a HM general purpose saddle for my horse and I find it is great, with a prolite riser pad with 1 fillet in, I do everything from dressage to jumping. My horse is soooooooooooooo much happier in it and what I really like is I can see his whole shoulder blade moving back under the saddle, no restriction. My only complaint is that when he is really tight and excieted it sometimes feels like it slips up, my horse used to be very pottery going downhill in his made to measure "treed" saddle but not he strides out really well. Also it really is 1 saddle fits all, we bought it for a very round "table top shape" Fell pony and it also fits my Luso x welsh with a defined wither and shoulder no problem with no pressing down on the wither. Definitely reccommend them
I have the HM fhoenix dressage as I had nothing but problems in getting a treed saddle to fit my awkward shaped lad. He hated anything restricting his shoulders.
I no longer have to worry about him changing shape and he is so much more free through his shoulders and back now changed to treeless.
Not tried a solution but they were recommended to me to try. Decided on the HM after reading so much about them on www.enlightenedequitation.com. Tried a barefoot london to make sure horse liked the feel of treeless before getting the HM off ebay for a very reasonable price.
i already have a hm pheonix gp, and i am just fantising about getting another which is more forward
cut for jumping a bit more...............and i was wondering if anyone had tried both
In that case I would recommend you arrange a test ride in a Solution Jumper (again, not the SMART). You will probably never look back (and the Solution is cheaper than the SMART and better for lots of reasons )
I have to disagree with Rowreach - I upgraded to the Smart and I love it!
I guess it's horses for courses . (I can't comment on The Heather Moffat one as I haven't tried them).
The heather moffat does not work on a narrow horse so if you have one of these, avoid it! Dunno bout the solution saddles as I never tried one. The heather moffat was amazing on my wider horse tho!
