Solution to leaking stable roof

I was sick of my expensive bedding getting soaked with the constant drips every time it rained. Told the yo and nothing seems to be getting done
I came up with a brain wave! I got cup hooks and buckets, attached the cup hook to either side of the wooden roof slats and hooked the buckets either side of the hooks by the handle. The buckets are firmly stuck to the roof and each catch 2.5 gallons of water a day when it rains constantly. Bit of a pain having to get a ladder in to empty them but at least my bedding is lasting as it should and my horse no longer needs an umbrella

You could also buy yourself a tube or two of bathroom silicone and a silicone gun and go trigger happy and fill the holes in..Would only cost about a tenner..

Mine was way too bad for either of the above solutions. I put a tarp over the roof, pegged securely to the roof edges. It will stay there until I can afford to re-roof the lot (or tear the whole thing down and rebuild).

Are there tree branches touching the roof? If so getting rid of these made a great difference for me.

No there's nothing touching the roof it's just very old and probably needs a complete replacement. Ill try the filler and hope the leak doesn't find another route to come out.

we used that for a porakabin, we managed to get hold of an old slightly ripped at edges curtain for a curtain sided lorry - VERY strong and heavy unlike some tarps and also has heavy duty eye holes to lash it on with. Not beautiful but it did the job - have also used one for the front of a barn to keep the worst of our Cairngorm weather out while allowing airflow,

I drove past a yard with tarp over the roof the other day - seems quite a sensible idea.

I have a tarp on my hay store roof, I lashed long bits of 2x2 wood to the short sides, one dangles down a couple of inches on the front and the other was thrown (from a ladder) right over the roof so it hangs down a foot or so at the back, this weighs it down and keeps it straight

I've patched a hole in the stable roof with some thick goo from a hardware store, it's silver gunk that you cover holes with - it's called something like Roof Seal and works very well
