Some advice please

My apololgies if this in not in the right place but I was wondering if you wonderful people would mind sharing some of your great advice with me please?

I have a 13.2hh NF pony who is fully clipped now, a while back i noticed a lump on his back, not bothering him at all (and he was hairy then). The saddler came out and said it was a blocked hair follicle, I use a clean numnah every time i ride, the are all lambswool or sheepskin and i was then in non-bio capsule type things.

The lump is still there and is still not bothering him in the slightest, it has not chaned shape or size at all. Is there anything i can do to get rid of this lump or should i just leave it. I spoke to one of the vets a work (he is a SA dermatologist) who started talking biopsie etc but at the time felt inclined to leave alone as it had just appeared and is causing him no pain or discomfort at all. Obviously if the vet comes out anytime soon (and i hope they don't!!) then i would have it looked at, but everyone seems to think it is a blocked hair follicle.

If it doesn't seem to be bothering him i'd just leave it for now but keep a close eye on it for any change. My mare has a lump on her back she has had it ever since i've owned her - the vet looked at it closely and poked and proded it when she was vetted 7 years ago when i bought her and couldn't find any reason not to pass her lump included. The lump has never changed in anyway over the last 7 years, saddler says it's nothing to worry about either as it is no where near anywhere the saddle touches.
Never had any suggestions as to what this lump might be though!
 
If it really is that small and not bothering him, and the saddler know his/her job pretty well, then I would try to ignore it for now. Look at it every few days or so, and if it grows or weeps or changes shape, then get a vet to have a look.

If things are cancerous, they do grow, change, look sore, weep, get crusty and bleed a little sometimes.
 
George has got a lump the size of a pea on his belly which I noticed a few weeks after I got him, it doesn't bother him in the slightest and it hasn't grown or changed in 8mths. The vet had a look at it and said to leave it be and just check it regularly.
 
Young girl on our yard had the vet out yesterday for exactly the same thing.The vet told her to monitor it as long as it doesnt change shape or grow there shouldnt be a problem.He would do a biopsy if the shape etc changed otherwise to leave alone.
 
Thanks guys, i check it every day when he is groomed and had his rugs changed, it does not bother him at all it more me than anything else. It has never changed shape, grown or had any discharge so will mention it to the vet when he has his jabs.

My mare has a lump on her chest - it's been there for abt three years now. The vet says it's a cyst and to leave it alone unless it changes shape.
