OK, so my grey mare is 21, still going great, but I no longer jump her and stick to quadrille and hacking- so no need to school her.

Ive just been given the most wonderful 7yo mare, who is going to be a super jumper, and i have already taken her to first competition and all has gone well.

This horse has been kept at a friends yard, in return for looking after his foals and been going OK. Now someone wants to rent the entire yard from him, so I will have to move.

My old girl is at a yard with another, they do not want a third horse there (we are also moving to be on site in January- so finally will have horse at home!

), Yard has arena and everything you need for competition work.

Sooooooooo...... what to do?!

Ive just been to see a lovely lady with an old 24YO (still ridden) boy, they have lovely stables and are happy to help and me to help out them- I think it would work out well.- I just feel that by shipping off my old girl to another yard, I feel like I am cheating her.

There is nothing wrong with new place- bigger stables than currently has... she would be happy- still come in each night- I would still do her twice a day.....

I dont know if i am taking on too much with horses at two different yards? does anyone else do this OK? A

ARRHHH, headache!!!

I had two horses at two different yards - the biggest problem was turning out and catching in times. It was fine in the summer when they were both happy to come in at 6pm and 7pm. But come the winter and a foul night - i found it really difficult to choose a horse to bring in first. It was also a little awkward on weekends when you had to feed your own "yard" so i could never decide which "yard" to go to first.

I think if you can have a set routine for each horse, all day everyday, you will be fine.

good luck

Thank you!!

The two ladies at the new place, said that they dont mind turning out and would bring in if the weather was horrible. - they even offered to muck out! They do seem to be on my wavelength with horses (if that makes sense!). They dont think that oldies should just be turned out and forgotten about- which is good as i still like my girl to come in each night and keep the routiene she has always had.

I think it will all be OK... i just hate change. the yards are only 3 miles apart, so thats no big issue either really.... xx
