The weeks' trial is over and she's not going back :D (not that I thought Dad would ever give her up now anyway!)

Misty has all of a sudden really taken to ND (I'm so proud of her!) and they play constantly :) ND has started to clean Misty's eyes as Misty used to do with Tara so I think that's a good sign that she's accepting her submissive role, as such.
Today Dad went into the kitchen and they are both curled up together in the smaller bed :)

They are both going in the kitchen when we go out as ND has chewed a couple of things and there's nothing in the kitchen of huge value but they seem to have accepted this without a problem. And for not being house trained, she's had one accident on her first night :)

ND went to dog school this morning - a model student she is not! Apparently she barked at everything BUT a Golden Retriever (She has never seen anything but GSDs and Goldens before I don't think and small dogs seem to get her back up) and jumped around on the lead like a numpty, but I guess its just time and patience - Dad said he's so used to having a dog that does everything like Tara did, its a real eye opener! ;)

She has also seemed to take a dislike to the car - once she is in, no problem at all, but she won't get in the car anymore and as soon as the door to the cage opens, she bolts for it - any ideas?
She is the same at the front door when we go for a walk, she wants to bolt right through it and twists herself right away from you - we wonder if she's been cracked at the door before by her previous owners. We've been working on making her sit at the door before a walk and when she's quiet she gets a treat.

All in all, I think we've got a real gem of a dog and she will be a brilliant part of the family - of course she'll never be Tara, nor a replacement, she was a dog in a million and we do miss her so much - especially having another shepherd round the house - but this was an opportunity we couldn't pass up on and I'm glad she's got a second chance with us :)

I would eliminate a pain response re getting in and out of the car, check if the cage is not rattling or vibrating too much, and watch your driving on corners :p

With the doorway, our nervy bitch was the same, the weight of expectation of going through a door or gateway to a destination put a lot of stress on her, which she would then try to evade/avoid by charging through the doorway or over a gate or through a stile etc, just try and make everything as calm and slow as possible.

Thanks Slinky :) I am over the moon that they have taken to each other as to see ND go now would be heart breaking!!
Thanks CC :)
The cage is tied down with ratchet (?) ties meant for the roof rack so I can't see that its rattling or moving about - she went out with the Golden today in the cage so I'll see how she was with her. She's had a full MOT with the vets and they can't find anything wrong with her at all - even if we lift her in the car she wants to get straight back out! Just odd as when we picked her up, she got in the car like an absolute pro, lay down and went to sleep! Its just started recently.
Yeah I think its just time and patience, I think she has a lot of issues :p
