What do you think to this one then?

I buy a new Haffie horse she arrives sunday. I have previously posted on here saying I was thinking of buying her, lots of people post piccies of their Haffies and wish me luck.

I post to say I've bought her and people post nice messages saying have all the fun in the world etc ... so pretty nice and normal so far.

I receive a few Pm's one stands out from a newish member because it's not your average good luck but is asking a lot of questions including where I live in the village. Ok some folk are more nosey than others and this girl seems to slightly know the person who sold me the horse via facebook so I reply and thank her, although she hadn't really wished me well. Another pm more detailed questions my name again and which house etc again no congrats etc. Well I'm not sure that many of us would be that forthcoming with a stranger having horses and just bought a new one we are naturally cautious re: theft etc. So I twigged that she was connected and probably fact finding for a neighbour who is a horse dealer and with whom we have had several run ins. So I said two reasons for this much interest normal friendly or fact finding? Yes came the reply she does have a horse at that yard and understands that the dealer is not everyone's cup of tea but that she was just being nice.

So at that point I'm just very straight and not nasty just say that I have no problem with her per se but I don't get on with her friends so my business is my business , I have no interest in them as they are not my sort and will just get on with my own horses thanks. Said if I saw her out hacking I would say hello properly.

Next I hear she has posted on facebook saying that I'm a "right funny ***t (rhymes with runt) and now that she knows all about me just who do I think I am?" The sum total of her fact finding on me is that I don't like my neighbour and that I sacked a local groom for stealing!

Its a good job I'm a 40 something who has a career and a life and is happy in her skin and doesn't need to join in the horsey bitching but this did make me chuckle at how within 24 hours of the horse arriving I'm the bad guy:rolleyes:

Ignore and enjoy your lovely new pony! Sounds like a nosey busybody troublemaker! Unfortunately more so than most other arenas the horse world is full of them!

Thanks I know they are everywhere these folk but zero to c word in 24 hours seems a bit rich:D. This is why I don't do facebook much sometimes the focus feels skewed full of people looking at what others have and not what they are achieving for themselves:rolleyes:.

As you say, you have a life, perhaps the correspondent does not!

My nearest neighbour is out of sight, down out long drive and I love it that way!
People could not understand when we moved out of village over 25 years ago how we could live without neighbours, but it is right for us.

Enjoy your new pony, hope you have lots of fun and pleasure this summer.

Thanks all quite right live your life rather than read about it will remember that one:) I wanted the nice secluded properties but hubby was sociable and wanted near neighbours ... think he regrets it now given the way some folk are round here:eek:

Gosh how very weird! So you think the dealer was scouting out this horse via this person or what? Generally trying to suss you out in order to call you a c word? I don't understand, weird people! One day I will live on an island and become the dictator of said island saying who can and can't live there... Yes, that sounds doable.

Hope you are enjoying your new golden pony!

Thanks. Think it was just being nosey and directly and rudely finding out gossip on me and my horses for the dealer. Don't think the dealer wanted the horse just to take the rise out of me for having cobs and ponies. Who cares unlike others I never represent myself as the next Mary King et al just a happy hacker / local stuff etc suits me fine.

Your island sounds lovely:) The golden one is great just trying her luck a tad bargy nothing bad but I've been clear that I wont tolerate this just as last owner didn't so she is ok if you are very clear and the boss:). She was great for the farrier today new front shoes only until she is settled.

The world is full of odd balls. I keep thinking that it is the horse world that is full of nutters, then sometimes talk to people with other hobbies and it seems that nearly every where is just as full of them, along with those who play odd politics and appear to never have grown out of the infant school playground :D

It is full of nutters do we have more than our fair share in this hobby:D

Not very nice now as the situation has turned really nasty as the member on here has now gone on facebook and made a nasty threat to the lady who shared her facebook post that called me a ... rhymes with runt ... with me. She has posted something along the lines of , I know where she lives and where she keeps her horses. I think it was so silly to cross the line and make threats as quite rightly the lady is livid and has involved the police.

This is exactly why I don't like facebook as the lady that sold me the horse has never met this woman, neither have I and she clearly has some issues, but it's easy to click accept and give someone like this woman access to your information.

I hope the police deal with her appropriately, people like that really do need to understand that their actions do have consequences!

Not at all funny and I also hope the police deal with it seriously.
Im also a 40 something and like you have better things to do with my life than worry about nutcases.
I have never been on facebook but when my daughter was being bullied at school my brother phoned to say some awful things were being said about her. One said that they wished she had never been born and that she was a ********g M....r F.....r  My daughter was 11 at the time. The school didn't want to know so the girls parents had me to deal with on their doorstep!!
Pulled her out of the school and she is very happy now.

Thanks guys yes if she pm's me again with the f word the way she did yesterday after I started this thread I will involve TFC, but she already slightly knew the lady that shared the facebook post with me so not gained via H&H.

At this point she has not threatened me directly as her post today indicated it was directed at the lady sharing the info with me... if that changes she will be making a big mistake, I'm small tough, Scottish and insured to the hilt and it could be a nice new hobby chasing her for damages :D I do think the lady that shared the post was very controlled today in just calling the police as she threatened her horses and that is really beyond the pale. The nasty woman is in her 20's apparently, so maybe was raised with this too soon an adult school environment that Cambrica rightly removed her daughter from ... whatever happened to the Chalet School and Famous Five:confused:
