I was suppose to be having a few days away, I had a non horsey weekend lined up, catching up with friends and family.

Then my mare BBears, goes all colicky on me - so spent most of Thursday either worried and talking to her in the stable or worried and awake in bed thinking about her. Decided then I didn't want to leave her over the weekend. She's just moved yards and is taking a bit of time to settle in.

Then today I got her in from the field and discovered she's quite a gash on her neck, so the vet had to come out and pop 10 staples in her. BBears was sooo very good, and should make a speedy recovery, the vet did a very neat job. (apart from leaving a needle in the stable

I'm hoping in this case things don't come in threes, or if they do then the dying of my kettle tonight counts as no 3. (i've made 2 cups of tea today and not managed to drink them, so tonight's cuppa was going to be so good). The only other option was to prempt Mrs M's advice of a cup of hot choccy!

Poor BBears she's had quite a weekend! The highlight of her weekend was a treacle and anti-b laced supper!

I'm sure the treacle helped her feel a bit cherpier! Lots of vibes that there's no more drama from her though, maybe she is getting everything out of the way in one go so that the vet doesn't have to come out for years after...?

I reckon you have earned a hot choccy!

Thanks Kezz, I've had my hot choccy now (with soya milk as I'm lactose intolerant

but I did have it all creamy as I put some soya ice cream in it - sounds yuck but the closest I can get to squirty cream!

Thanks Somethingorother, maybe that's her reckoning! So long as she doesn't think vet = treacle!!

Col - She's an ISH too and her ears are so huge and soft!

Good vibes to you BBEars - you are so lovely and who cares about those ears (sign of great intelligence I am told!!).

Get well soon!

Thanks Col - I'm pretty smitten with her! I've not actually measured her for a year (too frightened!) she was 16.1 then, and this last year she's really filled out.

She's 4 yrs 7 months. She's not be backed yet, but is about to start in the next few weeks so I expect she'll fill out even more when her muscles start to develop! Maybe the ears will be more proportional then, they are very hairy at the mo too!

Loving the name big lugs
