Had a lovely day today, almost ruined by an ignorant arse driver earlier. My day off, so took the big lad out for a lovely long ride all this afternoon. Was getting on 5 o clock ish, had been out since 2pm getting delightfully lost on the Ridgeway and was literally 10 minutes away from home.
Was coming back over the last big motorway bridge which goes over the M4. I was nearly half way across, had a big Arctic lorry behind us and a large coach approaching. Coach slowed right down and went as far over as it could, the Arctic behind us had also slowed down from a while back and didn't go by us till we were over the bridge [thankyou lovely drivers if you're reading!].
However, some complete idiot in a HGV lorry which was on the motorway beneathe, approaching the bridge where we were on, decided it would be appropriately fun to put his/hers horn on constantly, beeping as it came up to the bridge and still beeping it as it went right underneathe us.
Bless the big lad's heart, he'd cocked his head and was well aware of the HGV approaching beeping, but didn't do anything, and then when when he saw it go 'underneath' him still beeping, he still didn't do anything. Carried on walking straight on - ignoring the Arctic waiting behind us and the Coach which had been approaching and gone by just at the same time, like nothing had even happened.
He got a very big pat and large dinner when he got home. If he'd been any less than a gent, or if he'd had been anything slightly sharper, I wouldn't even like to think of what could have happened. If he'd spooked, he'd have gone straight in front of the coach, or if he'd spun, he'd have been barriered in by the Arctic behind, leaving just the crash barrier as an option....Urgh.
But luckily, he was the big gent he is and I'm very grateful to him for being that.
I am however, cursing the ignorant pig of the HGV driver. No wonder road accidents and horses are getting higher statistics with the likes of them idiots driving around.
