Some people just should'nt be allowed to own a horse!

Sorry to hear that Amymay. Many years ago one of mine got colic as I fed to early-I was a foolish teen wanting to go to the pub!
I wait a good hour now, and so far so good touch wood.
Still waiting to hear if horse pulled through.

I very much doubt you actually tack up while your horse is still eating?
It was a 2yo
Or proceed to gallop endlessly round the field disturbing the other liveries.
The other liveries should be habituated to it by now - my three are out next to the XC field at my yard, and have horses galloping past all the time
Or clip because 'everyone else has'
As far as I know there is no link between clipping and colic

Or feed again while untacking.
I have done this with other horses - but then I cool them down properly by walking after exercise. Some people advise you should leave your saddle on until your horse is cool....
Or throw out straight afterwards.
Well, mine live out so even worse - I feed them in the field...what is the problem in turning them out after feed, anyway? Unless your horse is silly and gallops around (mine don't)?
Or run out of feed and as feedstores are closed go to the supermarket for cornflakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dried maize/cornflakes...same thing (not that I'd bother feeding it at all in emergency feed loss situations.
My vets were unable to tell me the reason for the blood clot....no worm burden, no grass sickness, no injuries, nothing...and there are no research papers on colon impactions which gave any clue.
Next time I'll send them your way

I very much doubt you actually tack up while your horse is still eating? Very common in Europe at the big barns.
Or proceed to gallop endlessly round the field disturbing the other liveries. Very common with children; I'm sure I did this as a child.
Or clip because 'everyone else has' Can't see anything wrong with this.
Or feed again while untacking. Again, very common elsewhere in the world.
Or throw out straight afterwards. My horses are all turned out, so yes I "throw them out" straight after riding.
Or run out of feed and as feedstores are closed go to the supermarket for cornflakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Doubtful cornflakes will do any harm.

I'm not saying I agree with any of those things, but none of them sound like a hanging offence to me, and are indeed commonplace in many parts of the world. Now they may well be responsible for the attack of colic, however, they may not so I don't think it would be right for anyone to be judgemental without further information.

I think I quite agree.

Yup, they both clearly mention exercising an HOUR after feeding and feeding an HOUR after exercising as you seem to think that there is not an issue with this.
Maybe it would be best if you sent your horses to me.....

Obviously I don't know much about it. Do you think if I got in touch with a BHS instructor, they'd be able to teach me some stable management?
