Well being bank holiday, thought it was a good excuse to go have a mooch around the horse trials and take some pictures!

Posted this in CR just incase I caught any of your on camera :)
If so you can steal the pictures if you wish!

They ended up taking the water out, as loads of riders and horses were taking a dunking! Think there was a hole just as they entered the water, that the horses were tripping in...

Blimey Borde Hill has caused its fair share of carnage this weekend! There were several duckings in the water yesterday too :( Hope all horses and riders are ok, especially the one that uprooted the brush.

At least 3 in a row came off in the water when I was stood there! Felt sorry for the riders, as there was nothing they could of done... horses just went from underneath them! The riders would get up and shout at the officals 'Grr theres a massive hole' cue officals putting their wellies on for a paddle, and scratching their heads saying the couldn't find it! About an hour later after a few more falls they took the water out!

blimey - that poor brush looks a bit worse for wear! I'm feeling glad to have made it round in one piece - it seems to have caused carnage both days!

That happened to me a few years ago at somerford and that was the first thing that I shouted too :D I was fuming, lost my whip, stock pin, and worst of all, horses confidence  Hope they all came out unscathed.

Excellent photos, a lot of lovely positions from the jockeys!

Lovely pictures! As one of those riders who fell in the hole, it was just totally gutting, i was in trot and my horse just went from under me. As an amateur rider sitting on a good dressage and a clear showjumping round for that to happen is a totally awful feeling but luckily myself and my horse were unscathed, however there was a horse hurt with a badly banged leg and a rider who broke his finger, there were so many of us that fell and they were to slow to remove the water especially as they had fallers yesterday too.

My friend had a near miss at the water yesterday. Her pony fell but they managed to recover. However, pony pulled her bridle off. Luckily her mother was there to help put bridle back on. She was fuming though as she got 40 time faults and was heading towards her second DC of the day (cost her 4th place!). Hope all horses and riders are ok!

From watching it seemed like the horses that leaped in with less confidence came away unscathed (as they jumped over the hole) and the ones that went in boldly didn't get so lucky :( all I could think to myself it was going to ruin their confidence with water!

What colours were you wearing? As I may have got you on camera, but didn't add it to the post as it wasn't in as good of focus as the other pictures?

Great photos! I feel sorry for the people & horses at the water - what an annoying (an dangerous) thing to happen.

thanks for the photo!! I'm the second photo after the demolished brush! had a fab run xc, my mare was super as always!!! thanks again

I went on Sunday to watch 2 friends go round the intro. Its been a while since I have been out eventing so it was good to watch! We went down to the off set brushes to see what was causing all the problems there (and asked the fence judges what they had seen) but we seemed to have missed all the issues with the water completely as didn't see any of the problems there. Watched Sharon Hunt give a young horse a good introduction over the showjumps and we had a good day out. Very sorry for the riders who had a dunking as not expected at this level and not a great day out either.

Haha it was me and my friend fence judging the off set brushes. Nice to meet you, apologies for being completely oblivious to meeting another HHOer! The problems with the water started with the later class, around 2.30ish, guess it was a different route through the water for the Intro's? Hope all fallers are ok anyway, and whoever demolished the Novice brush fence! :)
