Some questions about equimins flexi joint

I am looking at putting my girl on a joint supplement and am just totally overwhelmed. Ive decided so many times and then I see another product. I did like the look of the vet vits one but a put off that its base is alfafa and she already gets her daily dose of manganese from her feed so decided against that. So now Im thinking either equine Americas glucosamine and msm or equimins flexi joint. Ive read brilliant things about the equimins one but I really want to know how palatable it is? I have a very fussy monkey and so don't want to be wasting tonnes of feed trying to get it down her. Shes currently on boswellia which she loves and quite often with supps I sniff and think 'oh I will have no problem getting that down her' and she wont touch it or if I think 'oh that's strong theres no way she will eat that' (apple cider vinegar and the boswellia) and she loved it. My other question is am I right in saying that its just the liquid form that contains the devils claw not the powder which is the one I intend to buy? I don't really want her on devils claw long term. Finally whats the loading dose measurements? If I bought a 600g pot is that not likely to last five mins because of the loading dose being so high. Why don't you contact equimins - they might send you a sample to check if she'll eat it? They are super helpful :D The website has the dose on it as can't remember it off the top of my head...

I feed it and mine can be suspicious but he likes this, it smells like sweeties to me!
 
Hi, equimins is a fab company I agree give them a ring and speak to David. Iv got a very old stiff lad who doesn't come out of walk and iv tried alsorts believe me and he's also bare foot so I am also very careful on fillers and the bases of some of thoses supplements. I use the flexijoint liquid with bromalin and it is fab I really can't rate it high enough. I stood at the field gate with tears in my eyes as my lad cantered across the field with the odd buck, he even bunny hopped the other day. It's the best stuff iv ever used :) that one isn't devil claw base either
 
Second thatsmygirl, ring and speak to David, he's really good. BTW why are you coming off Bromelian, I was thinking of changing over to it for a try as it's cheaper.
 
Have a look at Aviform Glucosamine; same grade as Newmarket Joint Supplement but 1/4 of the price.

Based on multiple vet opinion and published papers only glucosamine has any proven effect.

It's a bit of a mine field. Personally I feed linseed and glucosamine.
 
Thanks guys. I will look at the aviform too. There's so much about it's crazy. I'm really pleased with boswellia 4x4. I'v upped her dose and she is feeling really really well but she had an accident in th field last year, I cleaned her up and treated it and it healed but since from the fetlock down she fills up. She's ok once she gets moving but I'm wondering in hindsight whether I should have got the vet out as it was near the joint. Hindsight is a great thing hey. Anyway I'm just thinking whether I should put her on something that will really support the joint. I'll prob keep her on the boswellia as well but yeah just want the joint to be supported ESP comin into winter where she might have to be stabled for a couple of months overnight. Will definately get in touch with equimins because I'm liking the sound of the liquid too.
 
I tried equimins flexijoint for my gelding, he point blank refused to eat his feed with it in, even in the tiniest amounts... if I emptied the bucket of the feed with flexijoint in it and made up a new feed he still wouldn't eat it... I had to wash the bucket out before he'd even consider it!

I've put him on Feedmark's boswellia now, and he has eaten that fine... Have a tub of flexijoint sat on the shelf absolutely useless!!
 
Glucosamine has never been proved to have an effect , it used to be prescribed for people on an nhs prescription but due to its lack of definate effect the nhs will no longer pay for it.
I feed my horse msm again from aviform as I have read more convincing medical studies regarding its potential benefit effects and a tub costs around £20 and lasts several months, not sure if it had anything to do with it but my psd horse went noticeably sounder when I first put him on it .

I've just been over there looking at their stuff and I had actually just decided to get a bit tub of msm! I was also thinking of getting some glucosamine too. There's so much conflicting advice with it all I think it's just going to be a case of trial and error isn't it.

ajstaf you could order over the phone and have it delivered to wherever you are staying in london. They are a really helpful company and its nearly always next day delivery :)
 
I am using Equimins Flexijoint and my fussy mare eats it fine. I agree to comments made about the company they are very helpful and reliable to deliver promptly.
