Got 9/10 but like many others,I don't agree that half an hour a day is long ebough to look after a horse. Just winter mucking out takes over half an hour, then grooming, exercise etc takes it much higher.
Silly lot - read her 'basic of horse care' - she says horses don't like stables and never mentions riding, so I guess it's 30 mins to check horse is OK, replenish water and maybe feed - she evidently doesn't reckon you'll ever need to muck out, groom or actually ride
30 mins - does anyone only take 30mins a day to do their horse? I would say that taking care of it includes exercising so that should surely put it above 30mins (though I appreciate not everyone will ride/lunge everyday)
If I don't ride then I'm not at the yard any longer than 30mins. It takes 10mins to muck out and empty barrow, 5 mins to do hay feeds and water and get clean straw, and then 10mins to get pony from field, pick feet out and spray with thrush spray and put him in the stable. At the weekend I spend much longer grooming and faffing about, probably about 90mins plus riding time.
9/10! Though can someone please tell me how on earth it takes 30 mins to muck out (well) do hay, feed, water, bring in, groom and put to bed? Am I missing something here?!
8 out of 10, oh dear. apparently my enormous stables aren't good enough for a horse, it should be in 12x12 instead.
and i can't look after one in 30 mins a day, not if i get to ride it as well.
what a load of absolute bunkum. whoever wrote that should be ashamed of themselves. prob an r.s.p.c.a. inspector...
