Someone came to try my horse today; ended in tears...

Definately one of the downsides to selling a horse, at least next time you run through a few points before the next person tries your horse before they get on, to avoid confusing your poor horse or any possible accidents that may occur, some horses you only have to touch let alone squeeze...and let a alone kick...so I can imagine it must of been hard watching and trying to say something without sounding bad at the same time. Hope the next person is the right one and your horse goes to a nice new home.

well bless your poor lad for being so patient and not throwing her into nxt week!
don't be afraid to stand up for your boy tho if anything similar happens again, just remind yourself that he is yours and he's relying on you to find the best for him. you're not there to do anyone a favour so if you think they are not suitable tell them, they might not like it but as it's highly unlikely you'll ever meet them again, who cares lol

Actually, although horrid to witness probably just as well she showed you how she could ride (badly!) now, rather than it all falling apart later if you'd let her have him, even on trial. You still have a beautifully mannered horse but after a few weeks of that he might well have ended up ruined. You sound as if you really love your boy; why are you selling him? Perhaps I missed a previous post.

What a shame. If I had the time for another one (well, and the money!) I would have come to see him because he is exactly what I would be interested in if I was horse shopping, but if there's something I'm not it is a timewaster. (still gutted I didn't have the budget when Weezy's Chico was up for sale) Hope somebody nice comes along for him soon.

Oh that is just horrible. At least they cant make you sell him to them. It's horrible seeing a much loved horse treated like that.

I don't know what to say, I am stunned. What ghastly people! It seems there are plenty of awful people to go round, whether selling or buying. If possible, next time someone comes to view V, have someone there with you for moral support. Then if it all starts going horribly wrong, you can halt the trial and have someone there for backup. Heaven help the horse they do buy!

Agreed.
After all... you will never see these people again. Don't for one minute feel you should mind about upsetting the person trying your horse out. Its your lovely horse that is the one to consider.
At least they didn't injure him and next time you will no doubt have the courage to stop things if you need to a bit sooner.
Don't feel bad... it is a difficult situation. I am sure your boy has forgotten all about it now!
Poor you.

How ridiculous! poor V and poor you, allthough you should be proud of V

We had some people at the RS this week, they were new clients and claimed to be "advanced" riders on their forms they claimed they could walk, trot, trot without stirrups, canter, jump 2ft, jump 3ft6+ and do cross country. She then proceeded to trot and canter round holding the saddle while complaining the pony was too slow!!! he was just slow as he was trying to keep her on!

Jeez, the egos of some people defy belief!

I wonder what they imagine they ride like? Sounds like your boy was a perfect gent in very trying circumstances!!!

I hope you find a great home for him soon. Like many of the other posters, I wish I was in the market for buying another horse. Your lad sounds a lovely genuine type.
