That my 3 year old WILL learn to jump when she's older. I'm prep'ing her for the Futurity next month and showed her a small cross pole yesterday. After she tripped, trod and fell over it several times.... I dispair.

And this is the same horse that happily cleared a 4'8" high x 5' wide hedge which had a 3' stream on the landing side, as a 18 month old! Guess she scared herself and swore never to jump again after that!!!

*Rolls eyes*

I suspect she is just showing her distain at being asked to go over such a tiny obsticle when she is capable of flying over much bigger fences!!!

I need the same reassurance - my now 5 year old has jumped out over the field gate 3 times, but completely threw all his toys out of the pram, at a tiny, (and when I say tiny, I do mean tiny) cross pole in the school - jumped it like it was a 5 foot gate, and I promptly fell off, scaring him even more.
Completely backed off jumping now, just lunging over poles on blocks, one end raised, until I'm happy that he's got over his tantrum!

My horse hadn't a clue about jumping as a 3 yo - she had absolutely no idea that she was meant to go over a jump :D

Well, here's hoping so!!! LOL. :D

Even though I worked her at 8pm when it had cooled off, I don't think the heat was helping her enthusiasm. Nor her 'boy friend' neighing to her from over the hedge. *rolls eyes*

Distractions aside, I'm sorry to admit that I have NEVER seen such an abysmal display of jumping in my entire life. Honestly, a 3 legged blind pony could have negotiated the obstacle better!
