Well as a lot of you will know we've had our ups and downs with Pidge since he arrived 3 years and one month ago. But I feel like we've started again since solving our saddle problems back in February.
So had a lesson on Thursday and Pidge was fab, we even got a reasonable left canter as this last week it seems to have clicked and he can do straight, slow and on the bit, cue one happy mum

then Friday night popped over some of the XC fences and just had one stop which was me for sitting like a lemon, but we quite happily flew the 2'6" XC fences - cue mum being even happier

Yesterday one of my best friends got married so we had a long and emotional day but well worth it

So totally shattered I got up at 5.45am for the local riding club show today - come on girl get on with you'll be sending everyone to sleep

So did the ridden hunter after getting soaked

and got pulled in 5th out of 9. Then did our individual show and he didn't put a foot wrong, both canters were superb and he was an absolute pleasure to ride

stayed at 5th but have also now qualified for the Midlands Association of Riding Clubs Championship which is held at Rod so easy to get to

then did the walk and trot dressage test which was better and calmer than last month though we still left the arena at one point and broke into canter and jogged, still need to sit up though

eep doesn't sound great but hey we came 6th so got another rosette but this is the climax......................
the judge wrote on my comments "At last someone with a supple horse that could show bend through ribs in serpentine, well ridden movements" so bearing in mind we were in the jump saddle not the dressage saddle and the fact he has hock spavin I am over the moon with the judges comments and I nearlly cried at the showground

That is wonderful, no wonder you are so proud and happy. I think your boy looks v handsome and well.

I saw the title and thought oh no what has some nasty person being saying!
What a lovely comment. Well done, Pidge looks fab.

He looks fantastic! And I am so glad you had such a good day, and such a great comment!

How's it going with the saddler? PM me if you have news, I would be interested.

I thought this was going to be about a nasty comment! What a great comment and great day you had, Pidge looks fab by the way - lovely chestnut boy!

How nice! Well done, its great that even horses with slight arthritis can still do well with time and patience.

Well done you and well done to the Pidge!!!

x

Gosh I thought I was going to have to get tissues and make appropriate, "just ignore her, shes a cow" comments but no, nice happy story - I so pleased for you X

I'm another one who thought this post was going to be bad news!!
Congratulations on the judge's comment and I'm glad you had a nice day. Pidge lookes great by the way - lovely boy!

What a fab comment! I'm not surprised you were pleased after everything that has happened. Well done.

I did dressage today. Got a 3 with the comment "Cheeky!" Mind you I laughed too! It was cheeky!

Sorry didn’t mean people to think someone had been horrible to me
frown.gif
Gosh I feel like such a woos now for nearly crying over the judges comments
blush.gif
It’s just we’ve worked so hard to get things right and it so gratifying now his saddles fit that he can actually move properly as prior we kept getting “tense through the back” on all dressage sheets
crazy.gif

Yes I’m very proud of him it’s such an amazing feeling when everything clicks into place, saying this he’ll probably be a right idiot tomorrow now………. Seriously though I still can’t believe the difference in him in what 4 months, he’s like a totally different horse, I wouldn’t swap him for the world
grin.gif

And no I’m not going to wipe the silly grin from my face, it’s here for at least a couple of days that is if I can’t stretch it out till Friday
grin.gif

Well he’s a healthy 608kg by the weigh tape
shocked.gif
but then he is 17hh and in a 7’ rug! You don’t think he’s carrying too much weight as I am supposed to keep him trim and fit for his hock?
We did get a couple of 4’s in our dressage test when he got a bit keen and forgot we were only supposed to be doing walk and trot!
And yes comments from dressage judges have such an impact on us all whether good or bad, but oh so nice when it is a good comment, I’ll remember this one forever……..
