Very, very excited for next friday... i'm off to somerford park for 5 days with pony club :D :D
Sadly not taking coblet, unfortunatly there is no turn out for campers and the way he was today on a XC group lesson im glad im not taking him tbh! He was a tw*t! However I am taking a lovely 16.2 ID x TB (unfortunately grey!), a bit green show jumping but he's lovely :)

Anyway... i've never been to SPF before... so can anyone tell me what to expect when I get there? What the stabling is like... do's and don'ts around the yard ect.
And of course the XC course :D And is there much walking? Like is it far from the caravan site to the stables ect?

I'm super excited (can you tell?) i've already started packing  And I don't have a horse to worry about because the lady that owns him's daughter is also going so shes taking him...were taking a caravan!

Chocolate biscuits for all :D

Ps... My camp horse 'Rossi' :)

Somerford park is fantastic. You will have an amazing time.

Greta facilities across the board really.

You will even get a real building to eat in, and fab toilets / showers.

You wont get a better XC course either.

Think they normally pitch the tents just around the corner from the stables / mess room.

There is a great farm ride too, which you should be able to use on arrival.

When my daughter went to camp there, on the last day they all went around the farm ride in groups.

You will love it x

Thank you :)
Yep I think the plan is to let us all loose on the farm ride on the last day! very excited for that... I think out aim is to make it under 1 hour... including ann the jumps ;)

I have lessons with Liam Fisher and unless anything has changed, he is one of the Trainers for the Camp. He is great and you will have a good time with him.

Went to somerford for a camp in June - was fab! All facilities close together, great showers etc. They have a new stable block etc open this year for camps so everything first class. I had a brilliant time!

arghhh" just typed a massive post with loads of tips and hit delete!!! :(

This is a shorter version! lol

You will LOVE somerford!!!

Seriously, i think you'd be hard pressed to find better camp facilities!

The stabels are beautiful and I'd happily move in as a permanament resident! They are in beautiful, light and airy american barns and very spacious stables (my girl is 17hh and looked lost in hers!) Worth bearing in mind though that there are no rubber mats, so although they give you two bales when you arrive, in my opinion, it's better to buy a couple of extra! The haylage is ad-lib and great quality.

There is a club house right next door to the stables and they have excellent shower facilities and a common room with kitchen. The camp field is right next door to that so you can hear horses whinneying from bed :)

The farm ride is FAB! A river crossing and nice water jump with steps in an out....plus loads of variety on fences....everything is optional! It is well maintained and well worth the visit just for that.

The camp area also has its only arenas which are HUGE and inter-connected. They can easily have 4-5 lessons going at once with loads of room.

however.....the real reason why Somerford is awesome is the cross country course!!! It really is hard to beat! there are fences for all abilities, from tiny logs to full-up advanced fences which are awe-inspiring! And everything between.... there is also a fantastic water complex with lots of different options in and out, and fences all around.
Here are some pics to give you and idea (we are doing upto around 70-75cm here...lots of smaller and larger fences!)
