Yesterday I was being a silly mummy with my totally humanised scruffy terrier "Scrappy-Doo", you need to picture the scene!

Scrappy on his back on my lap, I was rocking him saying awwwww whose a lovely baby then, kissing his beard telling him how cute he was and he was going totally dopey and baby like, I made him do the jive with his front paws, then we had more kisses, more cradling ..... THEN I saw a black thing on his chest, so by now the dog was sedate and lolling on his back with his tongue out, and I casually part the hair and examine the very slow moving black thing....

IT WAS A BLOODY TICK !!!!!!! It was crawling and not even feeding yet arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Scrappy went from my cute baby to a stinky DOG , murdered the tick and put the DOG in the garden.........Scrappy looked at me as if to say..... whateva!!

Oh poor scrappy and nasty tick, maybe it thought you were talking to IT !

Most disgusting thing ever involving a tick was my son having one just below his eye, courtesy of a farm cat in France. It was so small I thought it was a tiny scab. Few days at home it got bigger AAaaaarrggh. Straight to doctors, they were puzzled as to what to do and so off to A&E to have said tick removed. Still makes me shudder

I had one on my stomach once. Didnt even feel it. It was half full before I noticed - horrible! I pulled it out then needed a lie down!

OH suggested he Frontline me....it was such an awful experience I nearly agreed haha!

I had one last year!! We are deer country here, ps its not poor scrappy, dirty stinking mutt!! haha

I was having a shower and and shaving my legs when I noticed a tiny black dot by my knee, thought it was a scab, had a good look and could see it was a tick inbedded in my leg!! I got it out, then had a panic for a couple weeks I was going to get Lymes disease lol.... THEY ARE GROSS!!!!!!

Awww poor chap! Best to just remove them, all the old remedies, whisky, burning, vasaline are not recommended anymore because they make the tick throw up the contents of their stomach into the human/pet, which increases the risk of Lymes X

YUK, Was worried about Lymes disease and pulling off and leaving head in  Being so close to his eye was the worry in using anything. If my hairy dog got one I don't think we'd ever find it - Bearded Collie.
Hate blood-suckers but ticks are nothing compared to Bed Bugs, picked them up on another of our travels and that was living nightmare HELL - but thats another story!

I became an expert tick puller when I went to Scotland! My dog had one nearly everyday!
I found one on me too, but luckily it hadn't latched on yet.

I remember stepping on one by accident...POP! Blood EVERYWHERE! Yuk.

Poor Scrappy, hehe! Banished!

My two scruffy terriers are forever getting ticks, as we live up on the Quantock Hills. We have now got them each a flea and tick collar (can't remember name - but can check if anyone wants to know)- and on the first day I found three dead ticks on the floor - yuk :( At least I know the collars are working. I also check my horses legs after we have been riding on the hills. And I never walk up there in shorts!
