Self indulgent post but so pleased with my boys today :D. Anyone else just have days where you are impressed with their attitudes?

Today was bringing in the boys when some IDIOT set off fireworks on our local public green, a stones throw away from the yard. Some of the horses went mad but my two kept plodding in and when I just jumped out of my skin and held on tight looked at me like I'm mental  ...

Then when I thought they had stopped decided to ride the big white beast under the lights which he is normally quite exuberant under (no idea why) and the fireworks started again! I nearly threw myself off but again he just plodded around on a long rein warming up.

So does anyone else own horses that are normally the first to be idiots but really look after you when you are on your own/something actually scary happens? My mum has decided to show an interest in horses and things I do recently (again no idea why haha) and came up to watch us ride 1 minute too late - I wanted to get her to video it :p. Next time, will plan it on the 5th November.....

Yep, I got to the yard in torrential rain and gale force winds (which ordinarily would cause a hissy fit just if shes out in it), pitch black the other night to find my mare had cut her knee quite badly in the field. I was dreading getting her near enough the hosepipe (which is not under cover and she isn't keen on at the best of times) to at least try and wash it off a bit.
Well she just walked up and let me hose it, no problem.
I think she sensed how scared I was as I hadn't assessed the damage and just saw blood pouring down her leg :o Luckily it was just superficial. :)

The yard once decided to do XC on the windiest day of the year...I stupidly decided to join in! Ned usually goes mad doing XC, but trotted around like a dream!!
