I just wondered what songs remind you of your horses (or dogs) and if there is, what background there is to it? "Devil in disguise" by Elvis presley for my 6 month old Border Collie puppy :D "What makes you beautiful" by One direction for Foxy <3 Also kind of "One Last breath" by Creed; dunno why :p (this one remind me of the racehorse Ruffian...RIP) There are probably more tho :) Your turn!

Tina Turners simply the best was my song for my old mare, becuase she was literally the best! could do anything on her, she tought me everythinggg!
then for my boy now, its i wont give up on us by that jason whatsisface!
Only cos he was lame alot last year pracically all last year and i was being told to sell him hes dangerous blah blah! :D

Two Little Birds- Bob Marley . I sing it when I'm hacking. Poor blooming horse! Also my youngest sons favourite song. ( not my horses tho! Lol)

No Matter What, by Boyzone.

Always reduces me to tears *sniffing, just thinking about it!:o*, as we overcame many hurdles and difficulties way back when I first had him. We beat many odds and silenced those who openly doubted us. In short, we did what we had to do, and walked away to fight another day.

For the little'un, 'What's that coming over the hill, is it a monster?!' :D By the Automatics.

And for Meg....'Big Girl, You are Beautiful' by Mika. She's never gonna be a sleek competition machine, but she's always going to have a place in my heart :)

You started me thinking. there are three bits of music I connect very much to the horses I've had over the years - but only two have words.

Two are connected with speeds/gaits - particularly hunting and X-Country. They are:

Galloping
The Ride of the Valkyries (Wagner)
Light Cavalry Overture (Franz von Suppe)

Trotting
The Alla Marchia from the Karelia Suite (Sibelius)
Wedding Day at Troldhavn (Greig)

Walking
The Anvil Chorus (Verdi?)
Dream a Little Dream of Me (can't remember - Mamma Cass?)

I sing to my horse all the time, or hum. She will walk in time if I pat her on the neck in he rhythm initially.

And lastly 'Morning' from Greigh's Peer Gynt Suite and "Oh What a Beautiful Morning" (Oklahoma) are my accompaniments to feeding etc in the morning. Both immediately make me think of my horses, wherever I am.

Somewhere Only We Know by Keane. It was played a lot around the time I had to have my beloved old boy put to sleep, and makes me think of all the lovely hacks we had in places that seemed to be ones that only we knew. Still makes me sob whenever I hear it...

Wherever you will go - Charlene Soraia, that's Teddys song, I lost him in February and haven't been able to listen to it since. Every word in it between me and him is and was so true <3

Groovy kind of love and a thousand years (think that's what its called...) for my boy that I lost. You are my sunshine and somewhere out there for the cat :D

For me it's Big Black Horse & the Cherry Tree by KT Tunstall.

It was always 'our song' for me and my beautiful Friesian who died in April. She's now buried in one of my fields and I planted a cherry tree on her grave.

Lonestar by Norah Jones for my youngster Tex, who was pts with grass sickness in 2003.

And I haven't been able to listen to Sting's version of Fields of Gold since Dylan was put to sleep. When he was alive, our song was Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen, which does still make me well up a bit ...

Grumpy Herbert that's really strange, that's exactly the song I was thinking about, it seemed to be on the radio all the time before I had to have my two beautiful boys PTS on the same sad day. Now I hear it and I always think of them and the times we had together.

I dont have many rosettes, so the ones i do have, i remember, 14 years ago, i had a little mare 14.3hh that competed with me in a horse league. we qualified for the final, and i won the jump off. As i was doing my lap of honour, the played simply the best - tina turner. every time i hear that song, i think of coco.
On a sadder note i posted about it already, my daughters pony died suddenly at the weekend. my son was sitting with popeye in the field on sunday, after he'd died, and sang him "maroon five - payphone", while crying. now that song will always remind me of popeye. :(

'you are my sunshine' reminds me of a dog I lost in my teens, still makes me cry now when I hear it.
' simply the best' & 'filthy gorgeous' by scissor scissors remind me of mine. Because she is. Plus our first ever unaffil sj, 18 yrs ago now the place played ancient, even then, pop music. 'hey mickey' was on in our round so I always associate it with her first round.
'twisted' by skunk anansie reminds me of a horse I had who was pts & the days leading up to it.
'voodoo people' by the prodigy makes me think of daughters pony, the high speed music is so her. And 'bad guys' from bugsy Malone is just so her & daughter when they're together.
And the original theme tune to one man & his dog reminds me of the dogs I grew up with as a child. I used to watch it, my terrier used to bark at the dogs on tv then the pyreneans would rush in to look for whatever the terrier was barking at & we'd all end up falling into a pile together.

Lip Up Fatty by Bad Manners for my boy or "Hey Fatty Bum Bum"!! :D Although my daughter keeps singing some song about a duck and a lemonade stand to him and he really seems to love it - although it is possibly the most annoying song I have ever heard!!

Message to You Rudi by The Specials for my Jack Russell called ... Rudi :)

Barry White's "My Everything" - because he is!

Goo goo dolls, Iris..

For Sisko particularly.. But I lost my 3 loves within 22 months.. 6 weeks yesterday, and 1 and 2 years pretty much to the day, this month..

"And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
And sooner or later it's over
I just don't wanna miss you tonight

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's meant to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's meant to be broken
I just want you to know who I am"
