I frequently drive past a set of riders on a Sunday who have not once thanked me for slowing down and waiting for a safe place to pass. It doesn't really bother me much as a driver, but as a rider I am absolutely furious because you can only imagine what the other drivers who slow down to be glared at anyway seemingly for having the cheek to be driving a car on the roads at all are thinking. Every time I pass them I just imagine the number of responsible slow passing drivers int he area reducing some more.
Definitely the worst I ever saw though were the ones with fag in mouth, mobiles to ear, reins in one hand (or under a leg in the case of the one who was smoking AND phoning) riding 3 abreast in the middle of a cycle path. I followed them for over a mile on my way to work, and at no point did them notice and move over / stop so I could pass on my bike. I couldnt bring myself to call out to them for fear of spooking the horses held with one hand into the fast road.
