My friend left the horses out last night as it was a nice evening with there nice thick rugs on to keep them all tostie, then this morning when i went up to get them in and check on them they where naked!

i cant belive someone had taken then right off there backs! Harvey is a Hanoverian and really feels the cold, bless him he was shivering this morning, Blod is a little more tough as she is a welshie, but they both have full clips.

IM SOOOO ANGRY! i cant belive the cheek of them. what if they had hurt them. just proves theifs will do anything to make a quick buck.

. Thank goodness they didn't hurt the horses though or try to steal them. Just shows how vulnerable they are.

The same thing happened to me a few years ago, but mine were nicked off my horses backs during the day! It was in the middle of winter too, on a cold, frosty day - the b**tards left my oldie and my 3 yo without rugs. One of the rugs was brand new and oddly it was only my two that got taken, so I have my suspicions it was someone on the yard that did it. Agree with vieshot, paint your postcode on the rugs - it doesn't look nice, but it will hopefully deter thieves.

omg I cant belive someone would do that, How rude hope horses have warmed up now. I would be looking at all the horses out with rugs on now if that was me.

I would be livid. Trouble is, we teach our horses to be good and kind and easy to catch so they are not going to run away from thieves, are they? Ours (big livery yard) mostly have horse's name on, but, yes, something more obvious is a good idea.

Will mention it to Claire, thinking it would be a v. good idea to mark them, They are all warm and tostie again now!

thank you for all your advise :-)

omg i would b spitting fire! altough buster would just ok here u go take it i can think of a 1 of mine who would sooner slaughter them at 20 paces than let them take his rug! lol

Very very common here. They even do it midday with houses nearby. We put padlocks (4) on one on a 'sick' mare - all disappeared. I paint the Freezemark on in big, bright yellow, non removeable paint.

Someone stole your rugs?!

I hope your horses are ok. How very upsetting.

This and horse theft is one of the reasons I am SO glad one of my girls is not stranger friendly...

Nasty - I saw a pony in a field last week with HUGE number graffitied on rug in luminous silver. Should get spraying myself. Its awful having to mess up your lovely rugs.
