Soooo... How much do you think your horse is worth??

ferdie was bought for £3k, was probably worth in the region of £9k at one point (when he was 9, and had just started at novice BE jumping consistent clear XCs) unfortunately he is now too old for the average buyer and has some medical issues (headshaking - controlled) that probably makes him worth around £4k I would have thought? He is still a top class RC/PC allrounder - just with minor issues!

Paid just under 3k, currently up for sale at just under 7k or for 8k which includes absolutely everything for him. We've had lots of interest but only two viewings

(and no he is not overpriced!) He is priceless to me but obviously not to potential buyers
 
my gelding i paid £1 and may get that for him now, though i would sell him even if you offered me a million pounds

my mare i paid £1500 and is probably be worth £500 at the mo though by next spring i hoping she'll be worth £3000
 
My welsh I paid £1100 including tack and I honestly don't think I could afford what it would cost to get someone to take her, although I have in the last couple of weeks found she has decent bloodlines so might breed a canny foal.
My TB I paid 2200 incl nothing and going off current adverts is probably worth 10-12k but I'm too attached to sell.
 
Oh dear if I had to live off the sale proceeds from my lot I would be in a bad way

1. 8 year old 15hh mare bought for £3500 two yrs ago. Easy, nice. Trying to sell, just reduced price to £2000 and NO calls so goodness knows, at this rate not very much!

2. 17 year old hermaphrodite with phobia of school and issues with traffic. Cracking hunter though and not a malicious bone in her gorgeous body. Um, not a lot, but wouldnt sell for any money anyway!

Mine was 250,000 as a colt bought for £2300 cost me thousands and like yours is probably worth nothing.Good job we love them

To me Genie is priceless, however I bought her last July for £3,300, and she's come on in leaps and bounds and has 'miles on the clock', so I would hope that taking the market into account she's held her price. Don't plan on selling her though!
 
Depends which market i was trying to sell him into...

As a pure SJ'er, probably between £5k and £10k. He's a good horse who gets placed regularly, but hasn't done enough high-end stuff for his age to justify more than a 'good amateurs horse' price tag.

As a dressage horse, perhaps a bit more. He looks flashy and has competed to Elementary level abroad as a baby...he's also an angel so would appeal to a wealthy middle-aged type

As an eventer....don't know really. He can do the dressage well enough, and the SJ'ing to any level of eventing would be a doddle...but he's no real form x-c due to the rider having no interest. He's a good Derby horse though and will jump ditches and banks etc. I reckon he'd do Novice very easily...and after that it would come down to how brave the rider was

Mine is probably worth 4K with me on him. Put someone who can ride him on and I'd guess 5-6K as he's 14 but can win the dressage with the right rider and happy competing up to novice, but I'm a crap dressage and he's tricky to ride!
A bit less than we paid for him but not horrendous as we bought him when he was 9/10
 
revising that actually-approx 1.5K and that would be a struggle-as he had a suspensory ligament injury, so never going to be a proper competition horse, I'm fully aware he's special to me and me only!! lol
 
But for 3k, including tack, about 4 or 5 months ago. He was worth about 4k then (bought from friends). He's probably worth about 3-3.5 now. Once he's been out some more, probably 4k.

As for George. He's an 18 year old welsh cob who's still in work. He's lovely. Bought for £1500 and probably worth nothing more than £5-600 now. But he's never leavng me so I don't care.
 
I bought my mare for £800. She is my pearl of great price.

Shettie cost nothing, and that is exactly what he is worth.

Kid's pony cost £900 and I could get that for tomorrow, without having to advertise, as he is bombproof.

1 - homebre, cost 1250 to put on the floor (I bought the mare 6 weeks before foaling and got a bargain), turned down 7k for her as a weanling because she wasn't for sale. In todays market possibly 5k.

2 - bought for 3k as a 3yo, sold for 6k as 8yo (and bought back a few months later) now 15yo utter schoolmaster probably 3/4k.

3 - given free, has leg issue, if that could be resolved 4/5k, currently £0.
 
The filly I would have to pay for someone to take her my gelding although priceless to me - he is the true 15.2 bombproof and amazing allrounder so £6000 maybe more if i could actually get him to some shows - not through the lack of trying though!
 
Well obioulsy he is priceless to me!!! but i paid 117.15 for him and he is worth about 2k he does some novice dressage moves jumps 3 ft with easy and has been ODE (only unaffiliated ) but has schooled around BE into courses. but would not sell him
 
I bought Roo in August for £2500 including tack and stuff.
Bought her as a novice confidence giver, so I paid more then she was worth I think. However I then found out how good she is at dressage and showjumping (I wont try xc but she'd be good at that too) so now I think she's worth the £2500 but she is 15 at some point this year so no more then that.
To me she is priceless though!

My lad is probably worth bugger all to anyone else....he is tricky, spooky and weaves...he's had a fractured cannon-bone .....drops condition if the wind changes direction....... but to to me he is priceless, he gave me back my confidence, taught me so much and has settled into an absolute star.....(still a nightmare to show though)....he will NEVER be sold anyway...

Highland pony gelding (4) and Dales X welshieD (13) prob worth a couple of grand each, but seeing as none are for sale and hopefully never will be....its an arbitrary value anyway...
 
Bought summer 2003 for £900, was offered £10k for him about 2yrs ago, not sure what he is worth now?

I paid £500 for Dolly as an 8 year old. We don't compete as I am just a happy hacker, but she loves to jump and we have done lots of fun rides. Friend took her cross country and said she was amazing and literally took her around. She is coloured, mare and has fab temperament. Other than damaging her annular ligament last year, she has been completely sound in the 6 years I've had her. I guess in reality she could be worth £3000? No idea really and never intend to sell her.

I paid £750 for Mac about 4 1/2 years ago at the age of 9. Since getting him, he has been diagnosed with ringbone and arthritis in one front leg, and arhtiritis in both hocks. He lives out and at the moment, with good management, is still sound and ridden 5 times a week. He has the most amazing temperament, but is very cheeky and naughty and has made me cry more than once. In reality, he is probably worthless, but to me he is priceless.
 
I bought Monty two years ago for £200 including tack, rugs, buckets, brushes etc. 28 stressy pain in the arse tb..............I'd say he was worth precisly zip! Good thing he's so handsome.

Zoom is on loan to me. She is ex-polo and only has one eye. I often wonder what she is worth. She is awesome for polo and horseball still (so I've been told) and I have started her jumping. She is great for sponsored rides and I took her hunting a couple of times and she was a star.

I bought mollie for £3500 + £500 for her saddle and sold her 5 years later for £2800 with everything, but she was 15. I bought Indie as a foal for £2000 and sold him as a 2 year old for £2400. Just bought ollie for £2850 but should be worth about £3500 once broken. But he's not going anywhere!!
