Yet again it has started raining, yet again I will have to do circles in the school after work instead of hacking ........... feeling very pee'd off right now!

I know I should be very greatful that I am lucky enough to have an indoor school and floodlight outdoor menage but that still doesn't make me feel any better right at this moment in time! Have mad plans with friends to hack every night this week and every night so far have been rained off - why oh why are we getting April weather in the middle of May???

Humph!

I guess purely because he's an eldery gent of 26 yrs and I feel guilty making him get all wet and cold and then I worry that the damp will make him get all stiff and he gets a cough in the damp air! I s'pose he probably wouldn't care less but I worry about him ...............

Am I being over-protective???

and it's the way they drop their heads, ears back, eyes half closed and give you that look that means, you shouldn't have taken me out in this!!! I know it well..

You're right - You are lucky!!

I have no school whatsoever, and a lumpy, bumpy, slippy field to ride in that's so awful at the moment all I can do is walk in. OR Risk my life hacking on on roads everyday - this is what I have to do! Monday I rode in the field, yesterday I couldn't ride at all and today - well it's not looking promising. Grrr......

My horse is not particularly spooky but this wind and rain and darkness is enough to test any horse out.

I'm fed up - bring back the sun!!

Oh I know, I am lucky, sorry for moaning! Just this weather is getting me down - we had such a lovely April and me and my neddy got suddenly used to hacking (I do have to do a lot of road work where I am but he's a good boy to hack so am happy to put up with that)

I will appreciate my indoor school all the more tonight now I have visions of your lumpy bumpy slippery field JH58 !! (even if we do have birds nesting in one corner which means it currently sounds like an avery and I have hells chance of getting him anywhere near that corner, let alone bending round it the right way!!!

Good outweighs the bad though as I do own it

So at least I get to shout in an evil voice 'it's mine all mine'

Thank you, I will be thinking of you too in your indoor school whilst I'm slipping around my bog pond, LOL

I don't know we did need the rain- the ground was like rock! I don't have a school so am delighted by the rain as it means the fields have some give in them. Admittedly I would rather it just rained overnight and it was beautiful and sunny all day! I hack out whatevr the weather, can't beat a good drizabone riding coat and you are away!

If its any consolation our outdoor menage (which have to walk through to get to indoor school) has very poor drainage and floods at the slightest hint of rain - have previously considered taking up conoeing as a secondary hobby!!

And its a weird kind of grey sand and rubber surface so when wet goes like clay and once on boots sets feet into whatever position they are in like a cement cast !!

Hmmm....I have busses and cars to deal with on a highly bred competition horse, so although I try to hack in all weathers, sometimes it's not sensible

Oh I know, it was me doing a rain dance two weeks ago, but I'm never happy

Bring back the sun and then I will 'allow' it can rain overnight

Yes must admit was also doing the 'rain dance' two weeks ago as my boy suffers concussion on hard ground and went suddenly lame for a day (is very good at doing the dying swan routine though and next day was as good as new!)

Now we have the rain I'm moaning cos can't hack and damp makes him cough. I'm also never happy !!
