Well I know one combination who are enjoying the wet weather.
This time last year my OH and Sophie had retired from eventing for the season. She just wasn't enjoying the hard ground, and we decided to listen to what she was saying and turn her away.
The spring season went well for them, but as usual she got far too porky on her week's holidays (I kid you not - this horse can get fat on fresh air, and a week's uninterupted grazing did her waistline no favours).
They've now done three events in a row, and with the much nicer ground has been a different horse this summer.
First event back she had one down SJ and they somehow managed to gallop past a straightforward XC fence (so have put that down to rider error). Fortunately this got said rider motivated, and he has actually done some practising since with a DC at local SJ and a jumping lesson.
The next two events she has finished on her dressage score with v fast confident rounds, an 8th last week and only a tense dressage in the rain yesterday spoiling another good day's sport.
I sometimes think we are mad to enjoy it, with a 5am start, 2hr drive and rain most of the day sometimes I wonder.
Still - its me and Flora hopefully next week in her second intro (not telling her though in case she trashes herself which she usually does if a party is planned).

Anyway heres the girl herself..

Aren't I handsome in my new bridle (no wonder it rained)...

It's going to take a LOT of gridwork to get my TB mare to make as nice a shape over a fence as Sophie. Dangly legs all over the place with her, Sophie's are up round her chin somewhere.

Got wet AGAIN today (and only out for an hour's hack)!!

They really look like they're enjoying themselves!
What did you think of the pre-nov course yesterday? Seemed to be a fair few problems!
Exciting doing an intro, nice place to do it anyway!

You haven't come to meet the puppy yet!!! Saw your dad and sis yesterday, they thought she was cute.

Couple of up to height skinnies in the PN which caused less trouble than I thought. Also log into the water which collected a few refusals.

Novice prob seemed to be the trakhener double (as always).

Sort of looking forward to Saturday (but am a nervous wreck as well).

aha! I thought it might be you with the cute puppy (but thought she was browner, have now looked at pics!).
I have a terrible memory for faces so wasn't sure if it was the right puppy and person!
Will see you on sat I'm sure!

Having serious cold feet now, as trainer has pulled out of SJ lesson, and D working late this week so unsure whether will get to SJ comp tomorrow night.
If it stops raining will put some fences up here this evening and see how we go.
Keep your fongers v tightly crossed for us.
