Sorry I know this should be in vets but I've had no replies
Daisy has a small lump that has come up on her right shoulder underneath the tree of the saddle. It is in the exact space where she had a nasty fly bite at this time last year so I assumed that it was the same thing and as she made no objection to me prodding it or being ridden I carried on riding her.
Today she went lame about 20 mins into our hack. Pulling up in trot and not moving through the shoulder properly. I got off and walked back. We tried trotting her up without the saddle and she was still not moving properly.
I last had the back lady out in November when Daisy pulled her shoulder. This has exactly the same symptoms except for the lump under the saddle. At the time she said that she thought Daisy had an excellent back with very little wear and tear and that the saddle fitted well.
I don't know whether to massage her in the way the back lady showed and then bring her back into work gradually or to assume that its the saddle and have a saddler out?
She has a real problem with her weight so I'm loathe to stop excercising her for too long from fear that she'll balloon up again.
Any thoughts? Who would you call first?
