Last Tuesday I was picking out horses feet and noticed he had a very slight sore heel and also his frog by the crease of the heel looked thrushy! I poulticed his foot and not a lot came out but there was some blood. Spoke to vet who said that he had probably trodden on something. Keep dressing on for a few days and then sprayed with blue spray. Everthing looked fine however checked him this morning and his heel is all sore. There is a spot of blood on his other heel but no where near as bad as this one and it looks like an insect bite not like mudfever at all. His leg is black and other white foot is fine?? I wonder if he has been bitten? Does anyone have any ideas?? Ps he has never suffered from mudfever, thrush or sweetitch!!

When you say he is sore, are you just refering to the skin on his heels looking pink as that is normal { ive been talking to a friend today who was really worried about her horses heels being sore, how she descibed it her horse had weeping heels, so i went up to have a look and there was nothing but healthy pink skin} i wouldnt poutice the foot, it either sounds like sunburn {try a sun block} greasy heal {try nizeral {sp} shampoo for a few days} or flys {try neam oil, its an antibacterial as well} or if it is thrush have a scrub with apple cider vinergar and an old toothbrush right in the crevisis. just a few things for you to try.

No heels are sore as in blood and weeping! Vet up tonight and said he has picked up mites in the field or fly bites. Frontline and steroid cream for wound. Not thrush or mudfever!
