Sore Mouth?

Bit odd checked Yaks mouth at end after he had dried off etc as usual and he had a small cut on left hand side - no blood just a small line where it had split. No bits have been changed in last 4 months in any phases, if I half halt I use right hand and he did not pull any more than normal. Do I just mark it down as one of those things? Has anyone else had similar?

Luckily it has all happened now because he has next couple of weeks off so it can heal.
 
B had same recently. Think it is just one of those things. I assumed a bit of grit or some such had got in and rubbed, maybe a bit of grass or hay stuck to the bit?
 
They do eat constantly and anything. Guess it could be as Yak was shovelling hay down his throat at a rate of knots today whenever he could.
Are they joined at the hip weird creatures?
Our dressage was near identical (44 & 45) and so pretty much was our xc time (20 & 22)and the fences they looked at on course. Just need mine to pick his feet up sj more!!
 
I have oil of cloves for when I had tooth ache but it made me retch so has sat unused!! Thanks that will help.
 
I thought it was very sweet that B had a little whicker for Rodney today - he never 'speaks' normally to anyone or anything.

Yes, they are wierd! BTW he *may* have been cured of his kicking today - he did one kick as we came down the lane, then went eerily silent....arrive and drop the ramp to find that one of the perspex bits from the window had fallen on him - think it shocked him rather a lot!
 
Aloe Vera gel works a treat too and you dont get the numbing affect! Such a bugger when their mouths split, so frustrating esp when nothing has changed too!
 
millies mouth can split like that very quickly...not due to rough hands either!!

i have found the best preventative measure is vasaline before every ride...much more comfortable!
