I have a very heavy traditional cob who has a sore at the back of one knee. It seems to be in the crease made as he bends his knee. He's a bit bothered by it as doesn't like me messing with it. What is it and how would you treat it. It's about the size of a thumb nail. Thank you.

Mallenders. My cob suffers with this too. I've tried the Dectomax (sp) injections from the vet in case it was caused by mites but these have no effect. Best thing I've found is regular applications of pig oil which keeps the skin soft and stops it cracking.

Most cobs suffer from this, just HiBi scrub and use normal anti fungal cream from boots or superdrug. do this daily and it will soon go but its nothing to be worried about :D
